The Tudors
During this half term we are working to answer our Big question: Why did Henry
VIII create the Church of England?
Before you can begin your first lesson of our topic ‘The Tudors’, you will need to
complete your pre-task. I have attached this as a separate document.
Remember that when you are completing this to write down EVERYTHING that
you know already, or think you might know already.

L.O: To show initiative when working in pairs and place key
monarchs on a timeline.
The first Tudor king was Henry Vll. He became king after the battle
of Bosworth field, which ended the War of the Roses. He was
followed by his son, Henry Vlll, who was famous for marrying six
times and beheading two of his wives! His son, Edward Vl ruled after
him, followed by his daughters Mary l and Elizabeth l.
They are famous for many things, including the Henry VIII and
his six wives, the exploration of America and the plays of
William Shakespeare.
During the sixteenth century, England emerged from the
medieval world. It was a time of great change, most notably it
marked the end of the Catholic church in England. Great naval
exploits began the great English seafaring tradition.
Your task:
Next, either using the information provided below, or your own
research, create a small biography about each of the monarchs.
Example:
Remember to use full sentences when writing your descriptions. You
could choose to draw your own pictures and colour them in, or you
can use images of the monarchs from the internet.
Create a short timeline
like this one, and use the
information to correctly
place the Tudor
monarchs in
chronological order on
your timeline.
