your Division operates,
At our October meet the
membership will be voting
on approving the updated
Division constitution.
Please go to the Division
web site at
www.wisedivision.org and
read it over. There will be a

your Division operates,
Bonnie Janke, our contest
director, is looking for new
pictures to use on the award
plaques. If you have any
prototype steam or diesel
photos that YOU took and
would like to see used on
the plaques, please contact
Bonnie.
Finally, over the summer
we lost two members of the
WISE Division family.
(con’t pg. 6)
I hope everyone has had a
great summer. We will be
doing a “transition” from
outdoor summer events to
model railroading with our
September 15 meet at the
Milwaukee Light Engineer-
ing Society’s Live Steam
Park. While we will not
have a swap area, and no
model contest (unless it’s
for equipment at the park)
you will have a chance to
enjoy the afternoon riding
behind live steam equip-
ment. This is also a great
family event, so bring the
family.
On the topic of outdoor
events, the Division’s mem-
bership picnic at the Mil-
waukee County Zoo was
great. A big thank you to
Ed Varick and his helpers
for making it another suc-
cess. During the picnic Ed
announced that he has de-
cided to step down as pic-
nic chairman, but in two
hours I had another mem-
ber, Mark Willmering, ap-
proach me about volunteer-
ing for the position. Thank
you, Ed, for your years of
running the picnic, and
thank you, Mark, for step-
ping up to take over. I also
need to give a thank you to
Ken Ristow, who had both
of the zoo’s steam locomo-
tives operating for our visit
there. Thank you, Ken.
Now for the business side
of things. At our October
meet the membership will
be voting on approving the
updated Division constitu-
tion. Please go to the Divi-
sion web site at

read it over. There will be a

THANK YOU. . . THANK
YOU
Thank you to all you won-
derful folks who made our
annual WISE Division Pic-
nic at the Zoo a huge suc-
cess. The weather was per-
fect, the food was delicious,
and Dick Cecil was at
the pinnacle of his
good humor (ha, ha).
I do wish to thank all our
great folks for
their donations for door
prizes. I especially
thank my committee for
their help; Fred and Bonnie
Janke, Neil Michel, Wayne
Dunbar and last but not
least Dick Cecil our
Editor’s Note: Thanks for
the great times and your
dedication to making the
picnic a wonderful time
for all. Please see page

MC. As I mentioned at the picnic, I have resigned as Picnic Chairman. I have been doing it for more than 15 years
and I feel it is time for some new ideas. I want to thank all you wonderful folks who, over the years have made my
job look good and easier by your attendance each year. So once again, Thank You and see you next year.
The April meet was very ex-
citing with all who came pre-
pared to enter the WISE Di-
vision’s Meet.
We had several categories
featured. We also had a very
busy day in the contest room.
It was great to see our youth
group participating and we
had two youth with entries
into the contest. The youth
group meetings are being
held at the Waukesha County
Gandy Dancers club facili-
ties. I get a chance to talk
with the youth about the
WISE Division’s Monthly
Meets and to encourage them
to place an entry into the con-
test. I have enjoyed the time I
get to see and talk with the
youth and to keep them in-
formed as well as the other
members of our WISE Divi-
sion of things happening in
the contest room.
I wanted to let all know that
we will not be having a regu-
lar contest at September
meet, as we will be visiting a
club which runs live steam
equipment. There will be a
contest for the Live Steam
equipment on exhibit on that
day. Hope to see all of you
and your entries in the con-
test room at our October
2013 meet.

The Constitution and Bylaw Committee has spent nearly 30 hours going over the Constitution. There will be some
notable changes, including electing some board members every year, making the Chief Clerk and Paymaster ap-
pointed positions, and allowing for mail-in ballots.
The membership will have to approve the new Constitution, and will do so at a special meeting at the
October 20 meet.
In the meantime, you can review the updated Constitution at the WISE Division’s web site at
www.wisedivision.org.
Thank you to the committee for their many hours of work on this project.

11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The first meet of the 2013 season will be at the
Milwaukee Light Engineering Society’s Rail-
road Park. It will run from 11 a.m. until 4:00
p.m. and feature train rides at their facility.
There will NOT be a swap area at this meet,
and we will not have the regular model/photo
contest room. However, we are planning on
having judging of the equipment being operat-
ed and on display that day. As it isn’t easy to
bring equipment that size to the meet and the
contest room, we are bringing a contest to
them.
So be sure to come to the meet and enjoying
riding a model railroad for a change.

And on June 21 former Kalmbach Publishing employ-ee George H. Drury passed away at the age of 73. George was a great modeler, and NMRA member, who was always willing to help. He gave many clinics at WISE Division meets and Midwest Region conven-tions the Division hosts. In the early days of the WISE Division, he also served as chief clerk.
The WISE Division extends its condolences to both the Oseland and Drury families.
