Monday 4th June/Friday 6th July
Dear Parents/Guardians, Last week we said goodbye to two
people that have been an
important part of our school family.
Maureen Coram who has been our school cook for 25 years and
Reverend Harvey Gibbons who has been our Priest in Charge for
St Augustine’s Church.
We held a tea party where the children said their thank yous and
goodbye’s. We wish Reverend Harvey all the very best with his
new Parish in Oswestry and Maureen much happiness and
relaxation in her retirement.

NUMBER DAY
This year we will be taking
part with ‘Number Day’ on
Friday 2nd
February.
We would like to invite all children to
come to school dressed as a Rock Star or to
wear something with a number on—all for
a donation of £1 for the NSPCC.
We have a week of maths fun planned and
will be launching Times Tables Rockstar—
more details to follow.
Thank you for your support with this
event.
Reception
We will be holding a
parents and carers maths
workshop on Thursday 1st
February at 1.30pm
combined with a Maths
Stay and Play session in
the classroom.
We hope you will be able
to attend.
COLLECTION AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY
We would like to remind all parents that staff are not available at the end of the day so
please ensure your child is collected on time at 3pm daily or at 4pm if attending an
after school club. Emergencies do occur and you may be delayed but it can be
upsetting for children to be left at school when everyone else has left if an
alternative collection arrangement has not been made. Should this happen, please
telephone the school at the earliest opportunity.
Many Thanks

St Erth
We will be holding a parents and carers maths work-
shop on Monday 29th January combined with a

We hope to see you there.
National Young Carers Awareness Day—25th January
On Thursday 25th January it is Young Carers Awareness Day. We
currently work with 20 young carers at Even Swindon, who all help (in
varying capacities) to look after a family member who is disabled,
physically or mentally ill.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our young carers for
the wonderful jobs they do, and for the hard work they continue to put
into their school work in addition to their caring role. Some of the
staff at Even Swindon will be wearing an item of purple or green
clothing on Thursday 25th January (the colours of Swindon Carers) to draw attention to the
fact that we recognise this and are here to offer support – on Young Carers Awareness Day
and always.
Being a carer could happen to anyone, so pupils who are not carers now could be in
the future – temporarily or permanently. If you would like to talk to someone
more about this, please talk to your child’s class teacher, Miss Sly or Carol. You
could also look on our school website. Thank you.
RODBOURNE ROCKS—SWINDON
‘Rodbourne Rocks’ is an idea created to encourage children to be creative and to get outside. Take a stroll
around Rodbourne and if you find a rock, photograph it and post to the
‘Rodbourne Rocks’ Facebook page. You can keep it or re-hide the rock
for someone else to find.
Decorate your own rock or pebble with paint, sharpies or nail polish in
any way you like and then hide it around Rodbourne. Don’t forget to
write on the back ‘Post a photo on Facebook @Rodbourne Rocks—Swindon. Keep me or re-hide me.’
Good Luck
Bag 2 School
Bag 2 School is a company
that specialises in good
quality second hand clothing
that can be re-used. We will shortly be
sending home bags and asking for your
donations of adults and children’s
clothing, shoes, hats, belts, handbags, ties
and soft toys.
Thank you for your support
BABYBELS—PACKED LUNCH
Can we please ask that children do not bring
Babybels into school for packed lunch as the red wax
is causing damage to our wooden floors.
Many Thanks

Dear Parents and Carers,
We are pleased to share with you some photos from our Winter Welly Walk. It was a great success.
Children loved the outdoor learning and we will definitely do it again!
We have welcomed two new members of staff in St Erth’s room, Mr Midwinter and Miss Hughes. They
have made a great start this term and settled in well.
Here are some dates for your diaries:
Monday, 29/1/18 Maths workshop for parents combined with Maths Stay and Play session
AM 9am - 10am
PM 12.30pm - 1.30pm
Thursday, 8/2/18 Story Time
Reception children come to listen to our story at 11am
Penzance Class comes to listen to the story at 2.30pm
Our current talking tip is:
Don’t let your child speak with the dummy in their mouth.
The dummy will get in the way of talking.
Our talking tips are up on the parent’s board in our room. If you would like to know more about talking
tips, please ask St Erth’s members of staff for details.
If your child has done something special, exciting or amazing at home and you are very proud of their
achievement, please share their WOW moments with us. We would love to hear all about them!
Kind regards,
Nursery Team.

Holocaust Memorial Day in Swindon – Saturday 27 January
2018
Holocaust Memorial Day was first marked in the UK in January
2001, and is now established as an annual day of remembrance
on 27th January each year.
The aim of this day is to mark not only the Holocaust (Auschwitz
concentration camps were liberated on 27 January 1945) but also
numerous other human rights tragedies around the world,
including persecution and wars, past and present.
Its aim is also to help raise awareness in young people.
This day also provides an opportunity for all of us to renew our
commitment to building a strong and caring community in
Swindon, which embraces people of all faiths, beliefs,
backgrounds, languages, and nations.
This year, Holocaust Memorial Day in Swindon will be marked
with a brief ceremony at 12 noon on Saturday 27th January by
the Cenotaph in the town centre followed by readings and
personal testimonies at 12.30pm in the nearby Friends Meeting
House.
Further information, and a more national perspective, about
Holocaust Memorial Day can be found on the internet, at
www.hmd.org.uk or by telephoning the Holocaust Educational
Trust on 0207 222 6822.
