who we are… what we do…. why we design…

Eddie Zaratsian has come a long way in the years since he took his place as one of the youngest ever inductees to the American Institute of Floral Designers. And 2010 was a year of unprecedented growth and fun! Between gorgeous weddings and events, shoots for Ceremony Magazine and Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style, not only has the Creative Director for tic-tock Couture Florals somehow managed to work with some of his wedding industry favs, Pauline Parry, Nikki Khan, Mindy Weiss and Marcy Blum and do not one, but *two* episodes of David Tutera’s My Fair Wedding but he was a contestant on the inaugural season of the Logo Networks’ hot new show, The Arrangement. For several weeks, E spent his days going toe-to-toe with nine other floral designers in fierce rounds of competition and elimination battles that would make other designers wilt. And, though he may not have said it at the time (what with all of those late, late nights shooting and early, early mornings at the flower market?) he loved every minute of it and from the moment it wrapped could not *wait* for it to air! He started 2011 off with a bang, working with one of his personal heroes Oprah Winfrey and spending New Year’s Day doing the launch of OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network.

…be on the lookout in 2011 for a book of Eddie’s incredible work photographed by Marianne Lozano.

Eddie Zaratsian Extended Bio

Celebrity floral designer Eddie Zaratsian of tic-tock Couture Florals is arguably one of the most in-demand florists in Los Angeles. For over twenty years, Eddie’s original and breathtaking designs have made tic-tock the first call for A-List personalities, event designers and producers, top-tier wedding planners and entertainment industry heavy-hitters.

Armenian born Eddie was young and looking for a way to contribute when he began doing gifts and balloons at his parents’ watch shop in Hollywood, CA. His seemingly innate good taste and sense of aesthetic served him well even early on, landing him the opening of the Los Angeles Convention Center in 1993.

His venture into floral design began with a client in need of arrangements for an event. Having worked with Eddie before, she knew he had impeccable taste and asked him if he would, please, help her out. Always one to help, E agreed and the rest is, shall we say, history. She loved the arrangements and in creating them, Eddie realized what it was he was meant to do and enrolled in the Phil Rulloda School of Floral Design. The man who he now affectionately calls “uncle Phil” immediately recognized the raw talent that Eddie possessed and encouraged him to seek induction to the American Institute of Floral Designers where he soon became one of their youngest inductees.

Shortly thereafter, in what would become the source of much inspiration, Eddie took a trip to Europe where he found himself poring over design books unavailable in the United States; in awe of the magnitude of creativity and ingenuity he saw and returned home with a new vision of all that could be in a world of limitless design.

Eddie Zaratsian Extended Bio continued

Upon his return to the US, Eddie began truly testing his creative limits, pushing boundaries and preconceptions of floral design and introducing his clients to a fresh perspective. Like any news in Los Angeles, word of his talents spread quickly and he was soon working with his very first celebrity client, Tom Cruise. Over the years, Eddie’s roster of A-List clients has grown and his designs have graced the spaces of national political conventions, the Emmy Awards Governor’s Ball, events for fashion houses Chanel, Christian Dior and Gucci. His work has been featured on the cover of Ceremony Magazine, Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style, InStyle Weddings and InStyle magazine. Clients have mentioned him in Harper’s Bazaar and Time. Tic-tock is the “it” florist according to connoisseur guides all over the world. He has been a part of Harmony Walton’s The Bridal Bar since 2003 and worked with celebrity wedding planners Mindy Weiss, David Tutera, Colin Cowie and industry elite like Nikki Khan and Marcy Blum. His designs have appeared in films such as The Wedding Planner, Killers and Vanilla Sky. You’ve seen his work on television in Weeds, Prison Break, Arrested Development, Will & Grace, David Tutera’s My Fair Wedding and, this season, if you turn your television to the Logo Network, you’ll find him engaged in fierce competition with nine other floral designers as a contestant on the inaugural season of The Arrangement.

Since his return from that first European sojourn, he has honored the vow he made to himself there; to return often, to seek the inspired and to create a world where design knows no limits. This devotion has garnered Eddie a well-earned reputation as industry forerunner and expert and his flawless taste and intrinsic ability to manifest the visually stunning place tic-tock at the top of any list of haute floral designers.
