How to setup a print server on tomato;

I assume the following.

You have a Wifi Router with a USB port.You have installed a Tomato USB build.You have the driver files on your PCYou have connected Printer USB to Router USB port.

Limitations

You cannot print from tablets; it’s a technical limitation.You cannot scan, the software required is vaporwareNetwork printing from Mac or Linux is possible but I don’t have both to test.

I can’t find a list of working printers for tomato, if you have one that works PM me the model.

Tested working printers

Canon IP 2770 – MeBrother MFC-240C - danny44

First we enable print server on tomato.

Open a Web BrowserType 192.168.1.1Username/Password admin/admin > enter

Go to “USB and NAS”>”USB Support” tab

Make sure the following are checked. If check them as seen on the image below.

On the bottom portion, the printer should appear; if it doesn’t appear press refresh until it does.

Press Save

Now you are done with enabling print server.

How to Install network printer on Windows desktop or laptop.

The steps are similar for XP, Vista or 7. For our testing we will use Windows 7 64bit

On start Menu type “printer”

Click “add printer”

A prompt should appear

Then just follow the prompts on the pictures below.

Note this is just a reference, the actual driver folder and driver.inf depends on you.

After this just keep pressing next.

There should be a question asking you if you want to share the printer.

The answer is no.

Do this on each Windows laptop/desktop.
