TRASH AND TREASURE NOTE TAKING
Read each question three times.
A QUESTION tells us what to look for……
In Mi Barrio, My Neighborhood, we will look for answers to these two questions:
1. What can a person see in the this neighborhood?
2. Who lives in the neighborhood?
Read ONLY one sentence at a time.
After reading the first sentence, ask yourself,
“Does it answer one of my questions?
If the answer is "No," then the sentence is TRASH.
Go on to the next sentence.
If the answer is "Yes," then re-read the sentence carefully. Identify and write down the words that are needed to answer the question – these are your TREASURE words!!!
Move on to the next sentence.
And do the same thing.
You should write down ONLY the TREASURE words – words that will help you answer your research question(s).
and
YOU SHOULD NOT WRITE DOWN ANY TRASH WORDS OR SENTENCES.
1. What can a person see in the neighborhood?2. Who lives in the neighborhood?
You can see… These people live here….
