Getting there

• There was a path cut through the rain forest, which was very thick in vegetation.

• It was a mile walk from where our buses dropped us off to the walled city

• Tulum is surrounded by an 8 ft. wall with only 3 small openings.

Buildings

• Tulum is on the Caribbean coast and will be hit by bad weather, therefore the city is in bad shape and you can not climb on any of the buildings.

• The plaza and main temple is in the next picture, with the observatory off to the left.

The city

• The city is on the coast and you can swim in the Caribbean Sea, just like the Mayans did over a thousand years ago.

• Many, many lizards on the grounds

• The main temple is where people would gather to watch religious events, such as sacrifices, and other gifts to the gods.
