Using Prezi for teaching/learning English

In general Prezi is used for: • Businesses • Schools • Projects • Presenting new ideas • Resumes, etc. In English learning it could be used for • Teaching vocabulary • Teaching grammar • Introducing a subject • Teaching pronunciation, etc.

Creating a vocabulary activity

using Prezi

• Create a Prezi account

• Create a new Prezi

• You can use a template or start a blank Prezi to create a presentation

• For this exercise we are going to use a blank Prezi

Using insert you can add images, videos, audio, etc. to your presentation

With “customize” you can change the colors of your basic Prezi.

• A blank Prezi looks like this

Basic controls:

• You can insert text at anytime just by double clicking on any section of the Prezi.

• The text menu allows you to change the font type, size and color

1. To insert an image just select the “insert” tab and choose the option image.

2. The image options will appear on the right side of the screen

You can upload your own image (3), search google for an image (4), or use an image from the recommendations (5). To use a recommended image, just drag it to the presentation section

• Images can be edited using the image editing menu.

• To connect your slides open the insert menu and choose lines or arrows.

• This works just like adding lines in a PowerPoint presentation.

• Slides are presented in sequence. The number next to the shape or slide show the sequence.

• If you are using arrows, it is logical that the arrows go following the sequence.

Adding sound to a Prezi presentation

• This address is an online spoken dictionary.

• It can say almost any word. Just replace the word in red from the web address

• To save the word in your computer just open the menu using the right click and choose save as video

• It will actually save it as a MP3 audio file

1. To see your final work, just click on “Present” 2. To share your presentation or to downloaded, just click on

the arrow. 3. Finally, you can exit the editor by clicking on “Exit”
