Learning Objectives

Our learning journey will provide COVD-19 return to work guidelines for Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife employees, volunteers, and student interns to address:

• Department of Labor and Industries regulations for safety precautions for employees who are:

• non-vaccinated

• fully vaccinated and choose not to verify vaccination

• fully vaccinated and have verified vaccination

• The requirement and process to acknowledge vaccinations, verification, and safety precautions.

• The requirement and process to verify vaccinations with your Supervisor to reduce safety precautions.

• Review of COVID-19 SOP’s that are sunsetting or staying in place (for right now).

COVID-19 is a

WorkplaceHazard

COVID-19 is spread by respiratory droplets.

Safety precautions to minimize the spread of COVID-19 includes:

• wearing a mask;

• social distancing;

• practicing thorough and frequent hand hygiene; and

• fully vaccinating.

These safety precautions are equal to wearing a:

• hard hat in a construction zone;

• seat belt while driving, or

• life jacket while on a vessel.

Authority

The Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) has authorized reduced COVID-19 safety precautions for employees who are fully vaccinated.

Employees who would like to work with reduced COVID-19 safety precautions are required to verify the status of their vaccination prior to reducing safety precautions.

WDFW is required to show our process to verify employee vaccination status to L&I.

Personal Decision and Choice

It is every employee’s personal decision and choice to:

✓ receive the COVID-19 Vaccination

✓verify the receipt of the COVID-19 Vaccination

Terminology

Non-Vaccinated You have not received and completed a covid vaccination.

Fully-Vaccinated

Single Dose Vaccine

(ie…Johnson and Johnson)

You have completed the single required dose; and

at least two weeks have passed since you received the required dose.

Fully-Vaccinated

Two Dose Vaccine

(ie…Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna)

You have completed the two required doses; and

at least two weeks have passed since the required second dose.

Vaccine Verification The process for an employee and their Supervisor to confirm and document

that an employee is fully vaccinated so the employee may use reduced

COVID-19 safety precautions.

precautions, requirements and vaccination verification process.

Working AloneConsistently able to be six feet or more away from others outdoors in a field location or indoors in an area such as a back office.

Examples:

Working inside the enclosed cab of a crane or other heavy equipment, vehicle, or

harvester.

Working in an office with four walls and a door.

Working inside of a cubicle with 4 walls (one with an opening for an entryway)

that are above the head of the seated or standing desk cubicle worker, and whose

work activity will not require anyone to come inside of the cubicle.

Working outside in an agricultural field, the woods or other open area with no

anticipated contact with others.

What is the process to acknowledge the safety precautions?

Acknowledge that you have read and understand the safety precautions by completing the form with your signature in DocuSign.

AccessAll employees will receive an email that will provide a link to DocuSign.

What are the safety precautions and requirements I will be asked to acknowledge ?

WDFW COVID-19 Safety Precautions Acknowledgement

❑ I have attended or reviewed the July 1, 2021, WDFW Vaccination and Verification safety training and resources.

❑ I will comply with the required COVID-19 safety precautions appropriate to my vaccination status, verification, and work environment.

❑ I will contact my supervisor if I have any questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 safety precautions or vaccination verification procedures.

❑ The decision to verify my vaccination status is a personal choice. If I want to verify my vaccination status, I will contact my Supervisor.

❑ I will contact my supervisor or their supervisor or sponsor, if I have concerns on the vaccination status of a Washington State employee, volunteer, intern, or anyone else delivering services in the interest of Washington State Government.

❑ I will not directly ask or cause anyone else, who is not the supervisor or sponsor, the vaccination status of another Washington State employee, volunteer, intern, or anyone else delivering services in the interest of Washington State Government.

❑ All employees have the right to wear a mask or other protective equipment, regardless of their vaccination status.

How do employeesverify vaccination

Show your Supervisor one of these acceptable types of vaccine verifications:

Vaccine card or photo of vaccine card.

Documentation from a health care provider.

State immunization information system record.

Visually review and confirm the acceptable

vaccination record as valid.

What If … Scenario

An employee encounters

another employee and has

concerns about their

vaccination status,

specifically that they are

working unvaccinated and

unmasked.

What actions should the

employee take?

Steps to resolve concerns about

vaccinations1. Be responsible for your safety. Put your mask on if

you have any concerns.

2. Share concerns with your Supervisor.

3. Supervisors will contact the Supervisor of the employee with whom concerns have been expressed and resolve concerns. If Supervisors need assistance, contact a HR Consultant or the Safety Office after hours and weekends.

4. If an employee believes their concerns are not being resolved; contact a HR Consultant or the Safety Office after hours and weekends.

Final Reminders

• Complete the Daily Health Self-Screen Attestation when working outside of your home.

• Always carry a mask with you.

• Remain flexible.
