Volume of Right Prisms with Polygon Faces

Right Prisms

• Any prism that has two polygon faces that are parallel is considered a right prism. They are named by the polygon that makes up the face.

• Rectangular Prisms have two rectangles as the polygon that makes the base

• Triangular Prisms have two triangles as the polygon that makes the base.

Finding the Volume of Prisms

• To find the volume of any right prism, find the area of the face and multiply by the depth.

Triangular Prisms

Area of the triangular face : = 6cm²

Area of the base multiplied by depth = volume

6cm² · 11cm = 66cm³

Sometimes the Height or Base is Not Given
