AMS Belief Statement

Before class begins:◦ Use the restroom

before class starts◦ Line up against the

wall and wait to be greeted to enter my room.

◦ If I am not in there, you wait outside patiently.

◦ Handshake, fist bump, high five, etc. are ok.

Entering my class:◦ Go directly to your chair,

put your belongings down, and read the board.

◦ The board will have the objective and lesson for the day.

◦ Gather materials, binder, and any papers waiting for you.

◦ Sit down once you have everything and wait for further instruction.

Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs)

SOPs Continued… Be punctual/on time◦I will open my door to allow everyone in the room, but once the door closes it will LOCK! Meaning if you have to knock, your late!

Talking: Please don’t speak over me, around me, or through me. This drives me crazy! Listen to instruction so I don’t repeat things a thousand times.

Organization: This is a GISD classroom. The equipment, tables, chairs, etc. all belong to GISD. If you break it, your parents buy it!

BE PREPARED: Bring your supplies to class. Your classmates are not always going to provide YOU with supplies.

Pet Peeves

Expectations Continued… Be Respectful to others

and classroom equipment!◦ If I deem you were

disrespectful to another student including calling them names, fighting, etc. I will send you to the office.

◦ Respect also includes the classroom equipment. DO NOT write on the desks/tables or cause damage to any equipment. That will automatically get you sent to the office!

Expectations Continued…

RESPECT!

I am a huge proponent of RESPECT! I will expect to be treated with respect by you and in return I will treat you with respect. Good rule for you to remember, it’s best to respond with a “yes sir” or “no sir.”

THIS WON’T BE AN ISSUE, BUT IF IT IS HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT…

Issue you a warning (Get back on task, the stare, friendly reminders)

Remove you from class (sit outside in the hall) THE BOOK and contact parents After you have signed the book if we still have

issues, you will go to the office. When you go to the office, its out of my

hands.

DISCIPLINE POLICIES

When you enter my room, you need to check the side table for a warm up activity. There may not be one there every day but most of the time there will be.

Come prepared. I am not a Wal-Mart. I will not supply you with materials such as pencils and erasers.

Once you have checked for a warm-up, you need to sit down and work quietly until the lesson starts.

Classroom Procedures

Homework:◦ I rarely give

homework, however, I will expect any homework that is assigned to be turned in on time.

Any assignment not finished during class time will become homework.

If class starts on time there will be very few instances where we can’t finish our work.

Hold the applause

If you failed an assignment, quiz, or test there will be chances to increase your grade.

Regular credit vs. Extra Credit (taking zeros often and asking for extra credit).

EXTRA CREDIT.◦ Extra credit assignments can replace an assignment grade

completely. ◦ Extra credit turned in for a quiz or test will add points to your

grade up to a 70.

Failed Assignments/Extra Credit

First and foremost do your best not to be late with any assignments!

If you are late here is my policy…◦ 1 day late= 10 points off (Highest grade= 90)◦ 2 days late= 20 points off (Highest grade= 80)◦ 3 days late= 30 points off (Highest grade= 70)◦ 4 days or more= 0

◦ I will help remind you about your late work but it is your responsibility to get all assignments turned in.

LATE WORK POLICY

If you are sick at any time during the year here is my policy regarding getting make-up work turned in.

Sick for 1 day= You have 1 extra day Sick 2 days= 2 Extra Days Sick 3 days= 3 days

I will have all previous assignments stored in a folder but the student is responsible for collecting all make-up work.

If you miss a test or quiz, you will be expected to make those up in the same time frame assignments would be due.

Late Work Continued…

Bathroom Breaks

You have 4 minutes between classes so use that time wisely.

I will judge if it’s a true emergency.

We will use technology in the classroom periodically, when its appropriate.

Don’t let me catch you using your phone in class without my permission. I WILL TAKE IT!
