Year 2 Statutory Requirements

At the end of Key Stage 1, teacher assessment is key.•Testing is statutory and children will informally complete a test or task, which will be used to support teacher assessment.•Teachers only report their assessment of the children, NOT what they achieved in the test.

In Jesus we learn, grow and pray together.

Information on the tasks and tests…

Key Stage 1 (KS1) tasks and tests are designed to be administered informally as part of normal classroom activity, at any time during Year 2, so children may not know that they are being formally assessed. The results inform teachers’ overall assessments in English, mathematics and science, which are reported to parents and the Department of Education

year.A range of evidence is required to support teacherassessment. • The child’s work books• Annotated planning• Teacher records• Photographs• Displays and working walls• Task / Test (SATS Tests)• APP records

Results• It is expected nationally that the majority of Year

2 year old children will achieve Level 2b by the end of the year.

• However, for some children achieving Level 1 is a real success for that particular individual. A child achieving Level 3 is working at a high level.

• Remember it is about the progress of your child based on their previous attainment. Do not worry about the other Children in the class.
