• A dramatic scene, frozen in time

Why use tableau?• Tableau is great for all types of learners. 

• It’s an interesting and fun way to present information.  

It is a human puzzle you must put together. 

existential/logical

It is interesting to look at.  visual

It requires you to get out of your seat. 

kinesthetic

It’s working with other people.  interpersonal/verbal

 It’s being aware of your surroundings. 

intrapersonal

How do we tableau?• I will give you a prompt (a line of poetry, a 

quote, a picture, etc.) to help inspire your tableau.  

• As a group, you will discuss what your prompt means and how you can visually display your prompt.  

• I will give you two directions: GO and STOP.  – GO means create your tableau.  – STOP means freeze.

• Your tableau is a moment frozen in time, you must try to keep still and not move!  Usually, I will ask you to unfreeze and we will go group by group and explain our tableaus.  

Think about

•  How can I use my face and body to share my understanding of my prompt? 

• What’s the most important emotion in the prompt?

• Is my tableau classroom appropriate?
