South Douglas is ranked #1 in Douglas County.100% of Mr. Bruno’s students met or exceeded in all subjects on the CRCT every year that he’s taught at South Douglas. 95% of Mr. Bruno’s students exceeded in Math and 82% exceeded in Science on the CRCT last year. 82% exceeded in Reading, 77% exceeded in Language Arts, and 77% exceeded in Social Studies on the CRCT last year.
High Expectations for All Students
Maximize opportunities for reading in school through whole group reading and reading groups.Rigorous weekly comprehension quizzes.Review comprehension questions and quizzes at home even if the work was completed in class.Learn multiplication facts early in school year.Real- world story problems.Study skills on Thursday.“See- Me” math problems during lunch.
Timed Tests• Goal: Become Math Fact Masters in
Multiplication and Division• 30 problems/three minutes: Thats a Fact• Weekly multiplication and division timed tests
(Thursdays)• Practice daily through morning work and in
computer lab.
AR• Students are allowed to go to library after they read
AR books.• Assigned chapter books are also AR.• Must score 80% or better.• School and Classroom incentives (points include
books read at home and at school).• Goal for third grade is 80 points.• Monthly reports.

Homework
Practice exactly what was covered that particular day.
Usually involves a math activity sheet and a page from the activity books.
Any unanswered reading group discussion questions are completed for homework.
Optional: Read AR book each night.
Conferences
Two a year (September and February).
Additional conferences can be arranged.
