6

• Bitterness = a heart ready to take offence at any word or act; the opposite of kindness and longsuffering

• Wrath = worse than anger; outburst of rage fed by bitterness

11

• Authority is established by:• 1. A direct command• 2. An apostolic example• 3. A necessary inference

12

Here in this verse:

• A direct command:

• “Be ye(you) kind”

13How many Christians do you know that are KIND?

14To whom are we supposeto be kind ?

• One another …• 1. Fellow workers/employees• and employers• 2. Your friends• 3. Your enemies• 4. To your family

15Sometimes we can bevery harsh/cruel/hurtful…

• And we know it!!!!• A) The husband/wife to each

other Eph.4:32• B) The children/grandchildren• Eph.4:32• C) To fathers/mothers; Eph.4:32

16

Being Unkind

• 1. Words you say about others..• Sometimes directed right at • Them.

17

• 2. Words indirectly said that• It is obviously meant for you.• a) A husband– to his wife…• Wish you were like her..another’s wife!• b)A wife—to her husband..• Why can’t you be kind like him???

18

• Don’t like an elder..say something hurtful to him.

• Don’t like a preacher..say something directly or indirectly

19

• Words intended to hurt….• Instead of healing, helping,• Soothing…causes pain you have• Inflicted upon another.• BE YE KIND ONE TO ANOTHER

20How can we overcomethis fault?

• 1. Recognize that we consciously or unconsciously

• Are guilty. Rom. 6:23;• 2. Ask God to forgive you, and• Do everything you can to • Do unto others as you would that

they should do unto you. Matt. 7:12

21

• Is it a sign of weakness to • To be kind?????? NO WAY!• Paul said : Eph.4:32

• Macho man• Liberated woman

22

Road Rage

• A little 4 year old girl died • Because of road rage….

• All over someone not being• Kind, considerate…

23Connected with Kindness is Forgiveness

• Eph. 4:32• Why? Because we all • Must forgive to be forgiven.• Matt. 6:12 “And forgive us our• Debts, as we forgive our

debtors.” for:

24

Matt. 6:14,15

• For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

• But• If ye forgive not men their

trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

25Kindness leads to wask:Why Should We Forgive?

• 1. Because we have been forgiven

• The fact that we have received mercy should teach us to give mercy

26

Mt. 18:33-35

• Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

27

• And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses

28

• 2. We often stand in need of forgiveness

• From the Lord• From our fellow man

29

Mt. 6:14-15

• For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

30

• 3. That we may experience the joy known only to the forgiving heart

• There is no joy in ill-will - spite

31

• 4. That others may have joy • The greatest need of the world

is forgiveness• Hearts hunger for it and rejoice

when it is forgiven

32

Being Kind and forgiving is:

• 5. It is Christ-like• Lk. 23:34• “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive

them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

33

How We Should Forgive

• From the heart• Mt. 18:35 • “So likewise shall my heavenly

Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”

34

• To forgive is to forget• Heb. 8:12• “For I will be merciful to their

unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”

35

• Without limit (No degrees of forgiveness)

• Mt. 18:21-22 “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”

36

As Christ forgives• He forgives the darkest sins;

completely; freely

37Eph. 4:32

• And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you

38 The Evil Of Unkindness and Unforgiveness
