ExamsCriteria Incorporated into the criteria grades

Holistic view of academic achievementsExam grades reported to keep an eye on growth or struggles, as

the student goes through the last years of the program.

What is the purpose of exams?

Practice of ATL skills (studying, time management, organization, thinking)

Tests content knowledge (Usually Criteria A) Not more than two criteria are used

Improving Exam Techniques

• Helps students to see what they know and what they do not• Helps them to learn time management and the system of studying• Teachers review with students one week prior to tests. • Students need to plan out their study time two weeks ahead so they

are not learning everything the night before…aka “cramming”• If they are unsure of a topic, they need to seek help from their

teacher prior to the exam.

Review after the exams• Did your child revise or learn for the first time? • Was their time table created and was it balanced to ensure

weaker areas in subjects received sufficient time?• Students need to note which topics they didn’t do well and

review, and seek help from their teacher prior to the exam. • Did they not do well because they:

• Misinterpreted the question? • Did they answer the question fully? • Did they use the correct subject terminology? • Did they have enough time?
