Getting Started with

All Iowa elementary schools are invited to join SWITCH!

As a SWITCH school you receive:• SWITCH Training• SWITCH School Kit• Comprehensive Web Tool access• Community of Practice access• On-going support

Getting Started with

SWITCH is funded by a USDA dissemination grant that seeks to:

• Continue to evaluate the SWITCH program

• Evaluate enhanced school modules: SWITCH+

• Classroom Module

• Physical Education Module

• Lunchroom Module

SWITCH ClassroomIntegrated physical activity & activity breaks

• Incorporates Do, View, & Chew concepts• Integrates math, science, & language arts

All teacher resources provided including:• Curriculum• Posters• Flashcards• Activity sheets

SWITCH PEEmphasis on energy balance education

• Teaches students concepts via active movement tasks

• Incorporates Do, View, & Chew concepts

All teacher resources provided including:• Curriculum• Task sheets

SWITCH LunchroomDesigned to be used in conjunction with Smarter Lunchrooms

• Incorporates Do, View, & Chew concepts

All lunchroom resources provided including:• Plate waste training• Lunch menu template• SWITCH posters & menu cards• Fruit & vegetable tasting kit

All enrolled schools will receive:

• SWITCH program in Spring 2016

• Additional SWITCH+ modules in Spring 2017

As part of the evaluation process, 10 schools have access to SWITCH+ in Spring 2016
