“An Environment Where We Can All Grow Together”
3/4/2011
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Next week will be the beginning of our ISAT (Illinois Standards Achievement Test) testing here at
Woodview School for all 3rd and 4th grade students. As you may know this provides us with the opportunity
to see how well the children, the school, and the district are doing when we get the results back. This data
will be useful in helping us to look at ways to continuously improve what we do as a school. You will
receive the results for your child in the fall when the state sends us the information back. Third graders will
be tested in the areas of reading and math; fourth graders will be tested in reading, math, and science. We
are all confident in their ability to succeed on this test. Please emphasize to your children to give their best
effort each day and we are confident that they will do great!
I would like to give a few friendly reminders about some of the upcoming events here at Woodview School:
• Tonight we have the annual “Fun Fair” at Woodview School. It is sure to be a great time for the
entire family! Please come join us from 5-9 P.M. and see if you can be one of our big raffle winners.
• The 1st/2nd Grade Music Showcase will be Thursday, March 10. Please read your classroom
teacher’s newsletter to see the time to report for the show!
• The first Art Show will be on April 7th at 6:30 P.M. at Woodview School. This will be a night to
highlight the students’ talents in Art exclusively!
• Woodview School’s annual “Family Science Night” will be on Tuesday, March 15 from 6-8:30
P.M. Please be sure to RSVP by March 9th as this is a night you won’t want to miss!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Jeff Knapp

DON’T FORGET TO ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK!
You can place your order online 24/7 at jostensyearbooks.com
Thanks to all who ordered from Market Day in February. Our school PTOs profited more than 17-hundred dollars! Our next sale is Saturday, March 19th, from 9:30-11 a.m. Orders can be placed online or completed order forms can be turned into your home school. The MD parent representative from your school will happily enter your order into the Market Day system. Hope to see you in March! Thanks again! Stephanie Arnopolin Market Day Parent Chairperson
Clip & save Tyson Project A+ labels.
Turn in the labels to school. Your
school redeems them for cash. Each
label is worth $.26.
Here is another way to earn money for
Woodview. Simply clip the Box Tops
from your favorite General Mills
products and send them to school with
your child!
Chef Tony says, “Stay warm
in this cold weather with
delicious soups and other
warm meals from Market
Day.”
Did you know that Woodview
collects Campbell’s soup labels? The
labels are worth points and must have
the UPC code in order to be used. The
points can be redeemed for books, gym
equipment, and other items for our
school. Each teacher has a box in the
classroom to collect labels and box tops!

HELP WANTED!
Exploration Day is simply not possible without the help of volunteers. It takes more than 100 volunteers to make this wonderful day the success that it always is. Though we already have many exciting presentations lined up, we are in need of several more. Do you have an interest in something unique? Do you have a hobby or career that you think our students would be interested in learning more about? Or, maybe you are just able to help out and present one of the suggested ideas below. These are suggestions only - if you have a different idea, please let us know – we are open to any new ideas! Science Experiments Gardening Arts & Crafts Smoothies/Afterschool Snacks Tumbling Camping Skills Kite Making Jewelry Making Origami Carpentry Magic Technology Exploration Day 2011 is scheduled for Friday, May 13th. The day begins and ends with a special ceremony, and is broken up into five, 40-minute sessions that consist of approximately 15-25 students each. If you would be willing to present at Exploration Day, please return this form to school as soon as possible. We will get in touch with you to assist you with planning. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - NAME_____________________________________________________________________________ PHONE/E-MAIL____________________________________________________________________ STUDENT’S NAME/TEACHER_______________________________________________________________
