The Bangor City v Carmarthen Town match on
Saturday was refereed by Ivar Orri Kristjansson from
Iceland, a 25 year-old who has just completed his
first season as a top division referee in his native
country.
Next Saturday, the 11th of October the TNS v
Prestatyn Town match will be refereed by Keith
Kennedy and his Assistants, Paul Robinson and
George Argyropolous. The 4th Official will be Nick
Pratt.
Mr Kennedy is from Lisburn in County Antrim and is
23 years old. It is his first season as a Premier
Referee having had a successful season as a
Development Referee the previous year.
He refereed the Irish Intermediate Cup Final last
season and also refereed in Malta as part of the
Referee Exchange programme.
Nomads v Citizens
re-arranged The match between Gap
Connah’s Quay and Bangor
City has been re-arranged for
Wednesday November 12th at
the Deeside Stadium at 7.30
pm.
The original match was
abandoned after 16 minutes a
week last Friday due to
floodlight failure.
An independent inspection of
the floodlights has been
arranged.
Social housing association Tai Ceredigion has this week confirmed it is
now looking at a 33-apartment development, rather than 80 flats originally
planned in the development.
It means that the installation of a £400,000 3G pitch will be the only benefit
forthcoming to the club in the near future.
Tai Ceredigion’s initial plans had included the provision of a new
clubhouse, the existing stand being demolished and replaced, new changing
and treatment rooms, and dedicated space for youth and community
facilities.
The planned 80-flat development was expected to run the length of the
ground, and beyond, but it is understood that the 33 apartments will now be
built on the site of the present astroturf pitch, at the rear of the stand.
Tony Bates, chairman of Aberystwyth Town FC, has expressed his
disappointment at the drastic change in the scheme, but remains hopeful
that ground and club improvements may now be “phased” instead.
He said: “The planned development will still definitely include provision of
the 3G pitch. “It is disappointing the large scale development will not now
go ahead in full, but we have hopes that the rest of the development will be
completed, in phases, in the fullness of time.”
Tai Ceredigion said it remains committed to providing high-quality
affordable homes for people in Ceredigion.

ABERYSTWYTH TOWN www.atfc.org.uk Wil Lloyd, regarded by many as one of Aberystwyth Town's
greatest ever players, died last Tuesday after a long illness. He
was 68.
The popular mid-field maestro made 404 appearances for the
black and greens and won one youth cap and eight amateur
international caps for Wales. He also played one season for
Llanidloes in the Mid Wales League.
Wil Lloyd Dark shirt in photo) won 1 youth cap & 8 amateur
international caps for Wales
Wil first played for Aber in the Mid Wales League when he was
14 and then for the club's Welsh League (South) side at the age of
15. He was a member of the Aberystwyth Team that won the
Welsh Amateur Cup in 1970 and played a key role in one of the most successful periods in the club's history.
Will was one of the most skilful players ever to play for Aberystwyth and he also scored 144 goals between 1962
and 1982. He could spread a 30 yard pass with pin point accuracy and was the master of the 'nutmeg'.
In his early years as a footballer Wil had the opportunity to turn professional with Cardiff City but declined in order
to pursue a teaching career.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Gwyneth, his son Rhodri, daughter Rhian and other members of his
family.
The FAW is grateful to Roy Hancock and Dai Pugh for the information above and images provided of a great
servant to Aberystwyth Town and Welsh Football..

U16 Boys Wales v England
Following on from their impressive double header victories last
week against the French, Osian Roberts U16 side now look ahead at
the forthcoming Victory Shield campaign. The WFT / FA Wales are
delighted to announce today that the Wales v England game this year
will be played at the Book People Stadium home of Bangor City on
Friday 31st October with a 7pm kick off.
Technical Director and U16 Head Coach Osian Roberts commented
"I'm delighted to take a youth international to North Wales again this
year, the North Wales fans really turned out in their numbers for our
game v Northern Ireland last season, and it's so important to take as
many fixtures as we possibly can around the country.
Facility development has been high on the FAW agenda for a number of seasons now with huge strides being made,
I feel the Book People Stadium at Bangor is a fitting stadium to host the England fixture especially with it being the
newest stadium in the league with a great playing surface, along with the passionate home crowd, I know it will be a
fantastic occasion for Welsh Football".
The England game is the first fixture of the Sky Sports tournament with Wales travelling to St Johnston to face
Scotland on Friday November 7th and Ballymena on Thursday November 20th to face Northern Ireland..

gap CONNAH’S QUAY www.the-nomads.co.uk Congratulations to ex-Nomad Rhys Healey, who, last
Saturday, scored on his Football League debut for
Colchester United.
19 year old Rhys signed for Colchester on loan earlier in
September and was given the number 19 shirt at the
League One side.
That Saturday afternoon saw Colchester visit Gresty
Road to take on Crewe Alexandra and on the 54th
minute, Rhys came on as a substitute for Craig
Eastmond, and just nine minutes later, he found the net.
Breaking down the left, Rhys forced his way into the
box and hit a left footed strike inside Crewe 'keeper Ben
Garratt's near post to give Colchester a 2-0 lead.
Shortly after, Rhys was involved in the move that led to the third goal scored by former Arsenal striker, Sanchez
Watt.
Following the game, team mate and ex-West Ham forward Freddie Sears praised Rhys saying "Rhys looks good.
He is a real finisher. He's only been here a week, but it's clear that he scores goals, and he does that in training
pretty regularly. I think you saw today, when Rhys scores with his first or second touch. It was a great finish, and
that really killed the game at 2-0."
NEWTOWN AFC www.newtownafc.co.uk CRAIG Williams has heaped praise onto boss Chris Hughes following Sunday's 1-1 draw with The New Saints.
Williams supplied the corner for Shane Sutton's opener, before Aeron Edwards equalised for the Saints. And after a
second half onslaught the Robins grabbed a point, and Williams put the result down to the intense planning from the
boss Chris Hughes.
He said: "Credit has to go to the manager because every player knew their job down to the last detail before we
walked out on the pitch.
"Along with the hard work from every player, it all helped us to be so solid at the back. And they didn't really cause
us as many problems as they would have expected and that is credit to all the players and staff."
Williams, who recently completed his 250th start for the Robins, was the goal scorer the last time Newtown won at
TNS, and labelled the draw on Sunday as a great day for club.
He said: "It was a great feeling after the game to go away with a point because they have such a fantastic record at
home so to pick up a point is great. And it is always nice to do it in front of the cameras, and it was a great day for
the club, staff and players.
"I also think for the first 25 minutes we played really well and could have had a goal within two minutes. And we
could have been two or three up before they started to get into the game, but it was a great start and the early goal
was key."
AFTER coming back into the Newtown fold and putting together a string of fine performances stopper Dave Jones
has given praise to the Robins faithful. Jones returned to Latham Park this summer after a spell with local rivals
Caersws. Prior to that he played over 70 games during Darren Ryan’s spell at the club.
And now the goalkeeper has thanked the fans for the warm welcome he has been given since his return.
He said: "I am loving being back at the club and there are a great bunch of lads here. Currently we are working so
well as a team and the fans have welcomed be back with open arms. It is a lot more professional here now and I
think that has shown in the way we are playing."
Jones pulled off a couple of top class saves in last weekend's 1-1 draw with champions The New Saints in front of
the Sgorio cameras. However despite the Saints having the majority of the possession, a stern Newtown defence
kept them out, with Jones only tested on the odd occasion.
He said: "It was a great team performance by everyone, with each player giving 100% and you can't ask more than
that. We defended well as a unit and they struggled to break us down and create chances.
"And the game was the first time I have played in a live game, and it was a good experience for me.
PORT TALBOT TOWN www.porttalbottown.co.uk No news this week..
PRESTATYN TOWN www.ptfconline.co.uk Speaking after their 0-4 home defeat against League newcomers Cefn Druids, Director of Football Neil Gibson said:
“I’m very disappointed by today's result and I'm even more disappointed for the fans who came and supported us.
“Especially so in the way we have capitulated in the fashion we did in the second half. We did really well for the
first 30-35 minutes to weather the storm into the wind then the decision for the penalty and the sending off changed
the game slightly
“If we get beaten one or two nil we can understand that but the way we descended in the second half allowed
ourselves to have an embarrassing score line at home and that is far from acceptable.”

THE LAST WORD by Gwyn Derfel
With all due respect to The New Saints, I’m sure that the neutral observers in our League would have
sighed deeply when the news came through that Michael Wilde had scored deep into injury time on
Saturday to grab the 3 points for the Champions against Airbus. Of course we want the Corbett Sports
WPL to be as competitive as possible – right until the end – but I must nod my cap to the Saints for their
resilience and for raising the bar during the past few seasons. This has forced other clubs to up their
standards which can only be a good thing.
I wasn’t present at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Saturday but was in attendance the previous week
to see the Druids bag the 3 points on that occasion. John Keegan’s boys are starting to find their feet as
Saturday’s victory at Prestatyn will confirm and it is good to see a newly promoted team having a real go.
I was watching Match of the Day over the weekend and in one particular match the panel of experts noted
that one referee in the Barclays Premier League had made at least three incorrect decisions regarding
possible sending’s off. Of course WPL referees make mistakes – and some of those split second decisions
do directly influence results. I just hope that everyone concerned – players, managers and officials- can be
honest, humble and take responsibility for their actions and failings. This is the only way that we can
continue the improvement in the standard of officiating in our National League.
Finally I’m sure that you’d all like to join me in wishing Chris Coleman and his team the very best of luck
during this next crucial week. We could be on the brink of something special as a footballing nation. As
the New Saints proved against Airbus on Saturday – by giving your all until the final whistle magical
things can happen to your team occasionally. Fingers crossed.
Y GAIR OLAF gan Gwyn Derfel
Gyda phob parch i’r Seintiau Newydd ‘rwy’n siwr bod nifer fawr o bobl wedi eu siomi bod y Pencampwyr
wedi hawlio buddugoliaeth hwyr iawn ym Mrychdyn ddydd Sadwrn. Wrth gwrs ein bod eisiau i’r rậs am y
Bencampwriaeth fod yn gystadleuol tan y diwedd un ond mae’n rhaid talu teyrnged i dîm Craig Harrison.
Maen nhw wedi codi eu safon eu hunain ac yn sgîl hynny safon y Cynghrair yn ystod y blynyddoedd
diwethaf – a gall ond bod yn beth da yn y pendraw.
Doeddwn i ddim yn y Mae Awyr i weld Michael Wilde yn cipio’r triphwynt brynhawn Sadwrn ond
‘roeddwn yno wythnos ynghynt i weld y Derwyddon yn hawlio eu buddugoliaeth nodedig . Fe enillon nhw
driphwynt arall ar eu teithiau ym Mhrestatyn dros y Sul a braf o beth yw gweld tîm sydd wedi ennill
dyrchafiad yn mynd amdani yn y Cynghrair Cenedlaethol.
‘Roeddwn yn gwylio Match of the Day neithiwr a beirniadwyd un dyfarnwr amlwg am gael tri
phenderfyniad allweddol mewn un gêm yn anghywir. Wrth gwrs mae ein dyfarnwyr yn Uwch Gynghrair
Cymru-Corbett Sports yn gwneud penderfyniadau gwallus yn achlysurol a gallaf ond dychmygu y
rhwystredigaeth y mae hynny’n ei gorddi yn y chwaraewyr a’r rheolwyr sydd yn cael cam. Y cwbl y gallaf
ofyn yw bod pawb yn ddigon o ddynion i gyfaddef eu beiau ac i gymryd cyfrifoldeb yn barchus am eu
gweithredoedd. Mae hyn yn gwbl allweddol os ydym am barhau i wella safon dyfarnu ymhellach yn y
Cynghrair.
I gloi hoffwn dymmuno’r gorau i Chris Coleman a’r tîm rhyngwladol wrth iddyn nhw baratoi ar gyfer dwy
ornest allweddol o fewn wythnos. Gallwn fod ar drothwy rhywbeth arbennig iawn yn ystod yr ymgyrch
hon. Fel y profodd Y Seintiau Newydd ddydd Sadwrn – drwy roi eich gorau tan y chwiban olaf un – gall
pethau hudolus ddigwydd i’ch tîm. Croesi bysedd. .
