listening to Arabic songs and exploring local stories , legends and places.
Watching some short Arabic Cartoons
( Eg Space Toon or Al Bara’em).
Visiting the Heritage Village, a local mosque or Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, Calligraphy Centers in Dubai and Sharjah or Bur Dubai Museum.
Involving your child in The Dubai Festival Shopping events .( Eg watch Um Khammas Annual Show).
Participating in the UAE National Day and all the GWPS’s cultural events.
Attending parents evenings and meeting the Arabic teachers to discuss the students success areas .
Working through your child’s levelled Islamic and cultural Awareness passport.

How to help your child improving Arabic learning
( Speaking and Listening)? Encourage your child to feel that he is involved in Arabic learning by:
Trying to learn some simple Arabic greetings and use them at home. This will enable the student to feel the importance of learning Arabic and its usefulness.
Discussing new learning at home , when going to the supermarket, in malls and taking every chance to practice in real life situations.
Searching on You Tube to find links to learning Arabic.( On the search indicator type “Learn Arabic” and you will find many lesson videos. Just make sure to view them first.
Purchasing an Arabic - English dictionary to help your child finding new words which he or she can then use sentences to express themselves.
How to help your child improve
reading Arabic? Our school library is enriched by lot of
attractive Arabic fiction and Non fiction books. We also have in the library guided reading books which are levelled according to our students’ abilities. Encourage your child to borrow Arabic stories from the library.
Encourage your child to use his or her alphabetical knowledge and decode letters and words in signs ,supermarkets and all around them.
Read English-Arabic stories to enrich the vocabulary and the language structures by discovering the meanings of the sentences and words written in Arabic.
Encourage your child to retell a story using the Arabic words which he or she can recognise .

How to help my child
writing Arabic: Encourage your child to have good
sized letters – not too big and not too
small. Your child can decode the sounds of the word , find the letters which can give those sounds and then write the word once by copying and then memorising.
Practice with your child spelling words from topics taught in school.
Encourage your child to check their written work with a dictionary .
Encourage your child to use key vocabulary learned and make simple sentences.
Encourage your child to use short and long vowels when writing.
