2013 Growth Leaders Ranking

To find out which banks and thrifts truly

dominate in terms of top line growth, Bank

Director magazine Editor Jack Milligan

worked with Bank Intelligence Solutions, a

subsidiary of Fiserv Inc., to determine the

inaugural 2013 Growth Leaders Ranking.

Banks have been struggling to find organic growth in the current economy.

The ranking shows the top growth banks and thrifts in four categories among all Federal Deposit

Insurance Corp.-insured institutions over the course of the first three quarters of 2012, based on

regulatory call reports.

The Four Categories

CORE INCOME

CORE DEPOSITS

NET LOANS AND LEASES

CORE NON-INTEREST INCOME

Contributing Factors

Strong Management

Team

Good Local Economy

Niche Player

Winners tended to have the following qualities:

One bank nearly dominated the entire ranking:

Customers Bank, the

Wyomissing, Pennsylvania-bank.

Customers Bank Chairman and Chief Executive

Officer Jay S. Sidhu has pursued a niche

strategy built around specialty lending and a

unique distribution strategy that emphasizes

mobile technology rather than brick-and-

mortar branches.
