2011-2012 Staff Welcome Wellness Walk and Activities - Farmington High School - September 1, 2011

Superintendent Jay Haugen was able to share information will all staff for the first time since being named to the position in July.

The Farmington Tiger Marching Band pumped up the volume for the 400 plus staff in attendance, providing a high energy start to the day!

School Board Vice-Chair Brian Treakle provided words of encouragement and thanked staff members for their efforts.

The Farmington Area Education Foundation donated $10,000 in grants and $4,000 in scholarships last year. Chairperson Glen Anderson explained that employee donations, businesses and fundraising are key methods that they use to generate the funds.

An exercise in text messaging and technology use played a key role in the presentation.

The concept shared with the teaching staff was to encourage them to use the technology that students bring to school with them to assist with their learning.

Staff members were invited to use their cell phones to participate in an interactive session with results displayed on the big screen.

Informative displays promoting health and wellness were available for staff and events were held like a “Wellness Walk” and basketball tournament.

A healthy breakfast was made available thanks to donations.

Farmington Community Education provided informational displays.

Staff were able to explore membership opportunities at the Tiger Health Hub…...

………and take a hands on tour of the facilities available to improve fitness!
