About our members
More than 45 two-year, four-year, public and private institutions in Ohio are members of Ohio Campus Compact. Our members share a common commitment to address the needs of surrounding communities and to integrate public service as a central part of undergraduate education. Together, we work to:
integrate the ethic of service across the institution by facilitating, supporting and rewarding participation
encourage faculty efforts to connect service and academic study; and foster an environment that stimulates students to move beyond service
and engage in long-term problem resolution through applying skills learned in the classroom.
Member benefits
Ohio Campus Compact benefits help Ohio colleges and universities form effective community partnerships, combine service with academics, and nurture student leaders by providing meaningful real-world learning experiences. Additional benefits include:
Grants and other funding opportunities. We make grants and our AmeriCorps VISTA programs available exclusively to our member institutions. In fiscal year 2010 alone, Ohio Campus Compact provided over $685,000 in grant funds to member campuses.
Training and technical assistance. We offer strategic consulting services, professional development training and academic conferences on a variety of community service, service-learning and civic engagement-related topics. Free or discounted training and technical assistance is available to member campus faculty, staff, students, administrators, community service directors, AmeriCorps VISTA members and community partners.
Resources and publications. We offer timely and informative civic engagement resources and updates via our free monthly e-newsletter, our online learning community and customized communications tailored to our members’ interests. Member campuses also have access to free or discounted publications and manuals published by Campus Compact.
Collaboration and networking. Ohio Campus Compact brings together faculty and service-learning professionals from colleges and universities across Ohio for statewide and regional meetings and projects. We provide unique opportunities for faculty and staff to connect with colleagues and counterparts at other intuitions who share similar research and program interests.
Recognition and Awards. Our service awards provide high profile recognition to the community service superstars on your campus. The prestigious David Hoch Award for Excellence in Service (available to faculty and staff) and the Charles J. Ping Award Student Service Award are available exclusively to Ohio Campus Compact member institutions.
