About The Unified Student
Government AssociationBy Raihan Sayeed
Introduction
Raihan Sayeed is proud to be associated with The Unified Student Government Association at Loyola University Chicago. Loyola University’s Unified Student Government Association, or USGA, provides an open forum in which students, faculty and administrators can communicate and cooperate in voicing their concerns and addressing the needs of the student body. Members of the university community, from freshman students to administrators and professors, participate in the USGA. Much like the United States government, the USGA is divided into three branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
About
The USGA President heads the Executive Branch, which includes the financial and communications departments, and is responsible for implementing USGA initiatives. The Legislative Branch contains the Senate, which is composed of elected members of the student body. The Senate, in which Raihan Sayeed is elected Senator, serves as the voice for Loyola’s undergraduate students and is responsible for allocating the USGA budget to fund campus events and activities. Finally, the Judicial Branch includes the Judicial Board and its justices, who review the actions of the Executive and Legislative branches to ensure their agreement with USGA laws.
