The MissionTUKE will contribute to society by its

education, learning, scientific and technological knowledge

as well as its innovation,in order to form beneficial and sustainable

future and high quality of life

THESE MISSIONS AND VISIONS SOUND REALLY GREAT AND IS MORE OR LESS THE SAME FOR EVERY ORGANIZATIONIN THEORY IT WORKS WITHOUT DOUBT. HOWEVER, HOW DOES IT REALLY WORK IN REAL/PRACTICE?

BASIC PILLARS OF THE UNIVERSITY

UNIVERSITY CENTER OF INNOVATION,TECHNOLOGY TRANSFERAND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION (UCITT)

Developing services able to ensure required performance of R&D activities, collaborative projects, transfer processes, etc.

The services include: Preparation, development and performance

of national andinternational R&D activities.

Efficient collaboration and technology transfer with social and commercial practice.

Development and establishment of relevant „Spin – off“ and„Start – up“ firms.

Human resource development for management andadministration of research and TT.

Marketing in the fields of R&D and Technology Transfer.

UNIVERSITY SCIENCE PARK TECHNICOM

Mission: “Win to Win” collaboration between academic

and publicresearch organisations

Producing expected and required outcomes for technologytransfer

Incubator for „Hi-Tech“ companies and Spin-off, Start-up initiatives

Management, development and operation issues areprovided by the UCITT

Consultancy, expertises, technical and technological support for the transfer of research and development knowledge and products

Relevant support for education and training activities

USP TECHNICOM – PRAGMATIC CONCEPT ORGANIZATIONAL AND MANAGEMENT STRUCUTRE

USP TECHNICOM IS A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCIENCE PARKS AND AREAS OF INNOVATION

ENTREPRENEURSHIP ACCELERATION

UNIVERSITY INCUBATORS VS COMMERCIAL INCUBATORSWHY SHOULD ONE CHOSE A UNIVERSITY INCUBATOR? WHAT IS THE ADAVANTAGE OF A UNIVERSITYINCUBATOR OVER A COMMERCIAL ONE?

TUKE STARTUP CENTRE

Its mission is to utilize innovative potential of the region,

invest in and support students and innovative people to develop their ideas.

Its vision is ‘to trigger’ a process that will help the

participants todevelop their ideas.

to support turning the innovative ideas intocommercially utilizable products or services.

to actively contribute to commercialization of the knowledge in the region.

It offers expert and mentoring support, assistance

in business plan development. support in the utilization of specialized

institutions, laboratories and other TUKE facilities for the implementation of objectives.

assistance with the acquisition of partners from the commercial sector, search for potential investors.

START-UPS ARE THESE DAYS VERY POPLUAR.THERE IS A PLENTY OF INVESTORS OR VENTURE CAPITALS.IS THE SUPPORT FROM THE SIDE OF THE GOVERNMENT STILL NECESSARY? IS THE ENVIRONMENTACCEPTABLE?

ALUMNI NETWORK PLAYS A HUGE ROLE.HOW CAN A UNIVERSITY AFFORD EXPERTS AND PROFESSIONALS AS COUCHES?

TUKE STARTUP CENTRE (CONT.)

Gruveo is a free online video calling platform whose mission is to make video calling as easy as never before.

It enables any two parties to establish a secure, anonymous video call just by agreeing on a shared code.

Gruveo requires no registration and works ondesktop,Android and iOS.

Smart Hydroponic Systems by CropTek are fully autonomous, highly scalable & cloud-connected hydroponics systems for home, small, medium & enterprise indoor and outdoor growing.

Maximizing yields, while lowering costs is possible through extensive innovations in power optimization, self-diagnostics, fault detection, remote control and life support system for hydroponic systems.

Its main goal is to deliver persistent global food securityand sustainable agriculture worldwide.

TUKE STARTUP CENTRE (CONT.)

The main idea of the EFEOS Start-up is to enable sharing events using streaming devices connected to the Internet (e.g. Smartphone, Google Glasses, Dron, IPcam or regular video camera).

Streaming of an event is conducted from a ceratin spot and the solution supports a single or multi-camera streaming of the event.

The use of multiple angles allows the system to select the best shot of the monitored object, either manually or automatically, using specific metrics based on tracking the object of interest and prediction of the best image.

Resulting best picture of the event is made available to remote viewers via the web interface.

Viewers can enjoy a new dimension of live multimedia content.

THERE ARE SITUATIONS WHEN STARTUP DECIDESTO DRAFT TO OTHER “TEAM”ARE THE MEANS ESTABLISHED FOR THE RESTRICTION OR AVOIDANCE OF THESE TRANSITIONS? CAN BE AFORCED PARTNERSHIP MUTUALLY BENEFITIAL?

THERE IS A DEMAND FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION.WHY IS IT IMPORTANT NOWADAYS?

SCIENCE AND RESEARCH

The focus is mainly aimed at: Information and Communication

Technologies, Electrical Engineering,Automation

and ControlSystems,

Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering (construction,

transport,geodesy)

Environmental Engineering (mining, metallurgy, water management sciences)... including their socio-economic dimension.

5 CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE

TUKE – AN ASSOCIATE MEMBER OF CERN

The Technical University of Košice was accepted as associate member of the ALICE project at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)

Members of the Center of Modern Control Techniques and Industrial Informatics (Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics TUKE) participate in implementing tasks related to the project. They have begun work on the modernization of the Detector Control System, focusing on the optimization of the data exchange interface between online and offline databases.

VUKONZE – RESEARCH CENTRE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGYRESOURCES INTEGRATION AND PERFORMANCE EFFICIENCY

life-cycle management.

COLLABORATION WITH INDUSTRIES

SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS OF INDIVIDUALS USEUNIVERSITY EQUIPMENT FOR OWN, OFTEN COMMERCIAL PURPOSES.WHAT IS THE CONSEQUENCE? IS THERE ANY WAY TO RESTRICT THE “ILLEGAL” USE?

KC ZATIPS – COMPETENCY CENTRE FOR KNOWLEDGE TECHNOLOGIES APPLIED AT INNOVATION OF PRODUCTION SYSTEMS FOR INDUSTRY AND SERVICES

TUKE – INDUSTRY ASSOCIATIONS

Eastern Slovakia needs to make its region moreattractive

IT Valley integrates all major “players”: Regional and Local Government (Košice
