THE FACTS (I) – THE ARTISTS.

• One application per person per level.

• Open to individuals, groups and organisations.

• If you’re working for the State Library of Queensland, you cannot apply.

• If you used to work for the State Library of Queensland, you can apply.

• The commission applies to all costs associated with the work, including travel.

• The Edge will cover the public liability & professional indemnity.

THE FACTS (II) – THE WORK.

• Needs to be site specific.

• Will be exhibited exclusively at The Edge for at least 12 months.

• The copyright remains with the artist(s).

• If it uses electricity, it will need to be tagged & tested.

• Will be properly risk assessed & associated management plans will be put in place.

• There will be one commissioned work at each level.

THE FACTS (III) – THE FUNDING.

• It is income, not a prize, so you will need to handle the tax.

• The funding is GST exclusive.

• It would be a good idea to run it through an ABN rather than a statement of supplier

• Funding for the commissions is paid in three parts:

- A third up upon approval of the project plan.

- A third on installation of the work.

- A third at the conclusion of the 12 month install period.

THE FACTS (IV) – SELECTION PROCESS.

• Applications close on the 14 th October through the website, not the 7 th; we’ve extended the deadline

• Applications will be shortlisted by the 21st October and people will be contacted.

• Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed late October.

• Winners will be announced early November.

• Interviews will be conducted by internal (State Library of Queensland) and external reviewers.

THE FACTS (V) – SELECTION CRITERIA.

We have five (5) criteria for selection of the works:

• Originality.

• Practicality.

• Engagement with, and understanding of, the audience.

• Responsiveness to space.

• WOW factor.

Let us elaborate on those criteria…
