• Mondays to Fridays : 8.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.• Saturdays : 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Closed on:- Sundays- Public & Mercantile Holidays- Last Saturday of every month for stock verification.

Books

• Most of the books mentioned in the syllabuses are generally available

• A ratio of 1:5 is maintained from the main recommended text book

• There are four categories of books* Green-Tagged Books* Yellow-Tagged Books* Red-Tagged Books (Reference Only)* Blue-Tagged Books (Staff Only)

Green & Yellow -Tagged Books

• These books can be borrowed out of the library.

• Each member may borrow up to 2 books.

• Lending periods

- Green Tagged books for 1 week

- Yellow Tagged books for 3 days

Red-Tagged Books

• Red-tagged books are for reference only.

• Why are these books red-tagged?– To keep as a master copy in the library– They are extremely difficult to source (out of

print, etc), So multiple copies are not available

CDs

CDs that come as a supplement to books are available in the Library

• Available for borrowing.

Loan period - 1 day

• Computers available in the library could be used for study purposes only

Make a Library ReservationPerhaps you need to borrow a book but no available copies in the library. you may make a reservation online. Reservations are made on first-come-first-serve basis.

available. One has to provide ones own stationary (80gsm, A4 Sheets)

Entering the Library

• Wearing & displaying the Student ID is a mandatory requirement when entering the library

• You are permitted to bring only loose sheets and books borrowed into the library.

• You will not be permitted to bring into the library all personal belongings, such as cases, umbrellas, caps, flat files , file covers, note pads, exercise books and CR books etc.

• Books not belonging to the library, also shall not be permitted. You may use the study area (L2-SR1) for group discussions .

• Set your HAND PHONE to SILENT MODE

Borrowing Books

• Check the condition of the book/s

• Report damages, scribbling etc.

• This will be taken note of.

• Present the book at the Library Counter

• Before leaving the library please check; whether the “Due Date” is stamped in RED.

• A book must be returned on or before the “Due Date”

• On returning make sure that the “Returned Date” is stamped in BLACK.

Returning Books

Overdue Books

• The fines are as follows on overdue books.

• Green Tagged Books- First Week : Rs. 5/= per day- Second Week : Rs. 20/= per day- Third Week onwards : Rs. 50/= per day

• Yellow Tagged Books– First Day: Rs. 20/= per day– Second Day onwards: Rs. 80/= per day

• Red Tagged Books –• Same Day Loan: Books can be borrowed for 2 hours only. After a

grace period of 2 additional hours Rs.5 per hour will be charged.

• Overnight Loan: Books can be borrowed after 5:00 p.m. & must be returned by 10.00 a.m. the following day. After 10.00 a.m. Rs.5 per hour will be charged.

Fines must be settled when returning the books.

– The account will be suspended after 7 days, and the library deposit will be forfeited after 30 days.

Renewals

• Renewals could be done once only provided there are no other reservations.

• The library doesn't encourage renewals at the counter. This could be done using online facilities. If you encounter any problems while trying to renew online, you may have to inform the library staff immediately and the book should be brought to the library.

Reservations

• A reservation is allowed only if the book is not available in the library.

• Reservations could be done using online facilities.

• On availability, it will be communicated to the member by e-mail and will be reserved for 3 days only.

Looking after the Books

• When borrowing, check for any defacements or damages & if there are any inform the Staff on Duty

• Take good care of the book. Remember, there are other users.

• If the book is found damaged when you return it, you may be asked to pay for its repair/replacement.

Loss of Books

• If you lose a book, inform the librarian IMMEDIATELY!

• Otherwise, you will continue to incur fines.

• One will be informed of the replacement cost.

Termination of Library’s Membership Account

• If you want to terminate your account, make sure that you:-– get the Library Membership Termination form

from the library– fill up the form and bring it to the library together

with your ID

• No termination process is allowed to be done on behalf of your friends unless there is a letter of authorization.

Feedback - Books

• If one feels that a book is important for relevant studies, & is not available in the library one could fill up a “Book Requisition Form” & hand it over to the librarian.

• All efforts will be made to acquire the book.

Feedback - Service and Environment

• For Improved services, eg:– Librarians are not helpful– Librarians are rude– Environment is not conducive– Anything is broken/damaged

• Please provide feedback!

• Fill up a Feedback Form, or inform the Administrative staff!

Simple, Common-Sense Hints

• Please switch off all mobile phones/pagers while in the library

• Please do NOT reserve seating locations for yourself.

• Please return the chairs to their original location.

• If the photocopying machine gives you trouble, inform the Librarian.

• Please observe silence in the Library.

• Please observe all Guidelines for Professional Conduct applicable to APIIT students while in the Library and the Study area.

• Above all, make good use of the Library!
