Trowels

Tools include a laying trowel, pointing trowel, builder’s nylon line and pins.

Laying blocks will use all tools shown: the laying trowel lays the bed and perp joint to the block; the pointing trowel will allow empty joints to be filled; and the line and pins help with levelling.

Levels comes in many different sizes. The most common for laying blocks is the 1.2m. The long 1.8 or 2.0m levels are very useful when laying blocks.

Although the hammer on the left is a carpentry hammer many brick and block layers require a claw hammer at different stages of construction to remove nails and screws.
