CAMERA MOVEMENT.

Tracking / Dolly shot. Camera on wheels. Moves with the action.

e.g: the tricycle scene in “the shining”

Steadicam shot. Hand held camera. Follows the action. Can give a jerky feeling to a scene which

makes the audience feel like they are there.

Good for POV shots.

e.g: the attic scene in the excorsist.

Zoom shot. Camera lens zooms towards or away from

the subject. Can be dramatic if done quickly. If done slowly, can give a more dreamy

mood.

e.g: csi strip strangler intro.

Crane shot. Camera on a crane. Looks down on the action. The shot can move dramatically from

ground level to a birds eye view or vice versa.

e.g: a touch of evil intro.

Pan shot. Camera pivots. Follows action.

Trombone shot. Tracks in & zooms out at the same time. Creates dramatic effect and helps with

focusing suspense.

e.g: the ‘get out of the water’ scene from jaws.
