WORLD TOURISM

• According to UNWTO tourist arrivals grew by over 4% in 2011 to 982 million, generating US $ 1.030 billion

• The forecast for international tourist arrivals for 2012 will be between 3-4% growth from 2011

• According WTO’s Tourism 2020 Vision, forecasts that international arrivals are expected to reach over 1.56 billion around the year 2020

TOURISM IN GREECE • “It is a fact that the tourism sector is growing faster than the rest of

the Greek economy. According to the World Travel and Tourism

Council, With the implementation of the strategic plan and policy for

2021, Greece could reach 24 million international

arrivals (compared to 17.5 million in 2013), 18 to 19 billion euros

of annual direct revenue (from 11.5 billion euros in 2013), 48 to 50

billion euros in total annual revenue(compared to 34 billion euros

in 2013), in other words, 9 points more than the current GDP, but

also 1 million jobs in total.

• Then, Greece can be ranked among the top 10 destinations in

the world.” stated Dr Andreas Andreadis, President of Greek

Association of Tourism Enterprises (SETE)
