Lesson Objective:-To plan writing an diary entry-To choose any scenario to write the diary entry.

TASK: As you have read the 9 different diary entries, Michael has written. Some might not be able to

finish, so 10 minutes , will be provided for silent reading. Others who have read can revise on the

features of a diary entry.

Question: What are the features of a diary entry?

Some Features of a Diary Entry:

• Informal Tone• First Person• Emotive Language• Chronological Order• Opinion/ Point of View

As we will be writing an diary entry on a given scenario/ plot. What

else do we need to revise?

One thing we left out: How to write a perfect diary entry/ Tips on

writing a good diary entry.

REMEMBER: It is not a journal.

Understand that eventually the diary will become your best friend, silent confessor, or witness.

• You will eventually trust your diary with anything, even your biggest secrets.

Put the date or some sequence information in the diary, maybe at the top of the page.

• (example: 12-11-2007) Other ways might be 12:11:07, day # 123 of my life, or you can put the year at the corner of the page to show that it all takes place in the year. If all else fails, just write 12:11.

Start writing the diary only if you really have interest in it.

• Do not just start writing because your friends are writing.

If you are writing a diary for the first time, always start with a small one

• For the first few days you may love writing in the big diary, but after weeks the thought of writing may daunt you. If you have already written a diary and are totally into it, then buy a fatter one. Try to buy diaries with locks because they are safer, but do not lose the key!

If you want, you can stick stickers on various pages or draw some doodles to express how you feel about something/someone.

Start writing!• Write about how you feel

and why you feel that way. You can write about any celebration or disaster that happened that day. Or you can write freely. Put your pen to the page and write whatever is on your mind. Write cool facts, important information, advice, tips, ideas, crafts, recipes, anything you want to keep secret...the list goes on and on.

Add some doodles like a smiley face or anything that shows how you feel

• You should only do this if you want to. It does make it more fun for some people. Another suggestion might be to draw your own portrait or picture. You also might want to write some more about how your day went. Was it generally positive or negative?

Do not write bluff

• Always write truthfully. This diary will always listen, never forget, never judge and nor will it ever reveal your secrets. So do not worry about writing the truth in it no matter how horrible it is.

Try something of your own• for example, you

can write at the end of every day "The lesson I have learned is that when life gives you lemons..." and write a different ending to the sentence every day. Be creative

Put souvenirs and photos for decorations:

You have successfully completed your diary entry!

Scenarios:

• Trip to the Amazon: Describe your journey in the Amazon and what you encountered there. Mention your routine in the Amazon, your utilities and how did you provide yourself with food.

• A terrible day: You just had a terrible day, like knocking into things, getting shrieked by your friends & parents. Explain your experience on that day.

Pictures to help you write the diary entry:

Interpret the ideas you have seen in the pictures or in your mind, and do brainstorming in your notebook at the blank page. The ruled pages

will be used to write the entry.

Add colours to brainstorming, as it develops the brain’s speed:
