Distance education can be an acceptable alternative because it is just as good as traditional education.

Study 2 (Significant Difference - Better Results with Technology)Title:Differences Between Traditional and Distance Education Academic Performances: A meta-analytic approach Authors:Mickey Shachar and Yoram Neumann  Result:the results of the meta-analysis show a strong positive trend indicating that DE is an effective form of instruction. The analysis demonstrates that students engaged in DE academically outperform their F2F counterparts. 

Our viewpoint

Distance education is as effective as traditional education and there is no significant difference between them in terms of the learning outcomes.However, distance education is featured by the efficiency of medium by which learners can learn anytime and anywhere.
