Domestic Violence:The silent killer

By: A victim

Domestic Violence can happen to anyone.

This is my story…

I was a happy, upbeat, and caring person. Little did I know, there was someone on the prowl for someone like me…

He was charming and very attractive.

…And promised me the world…

Instead, he controlled me…

Called me names….

Told me I should kill myself…

…and threw things at me

He told me it was my fault that things were this way…

…And I started to believe him…

He isolated me from my friends and the outside world…

After 3 years, I was left empty inside.

Since he had been controlling the food as well…

I weighed 96 lbs at 23 years old.

He made fun of me and told me I was disgusting for being so thin.

No one knew the pain I was going through.

Finally, he pointed a loaded gun at me.

I knew this could have been the end.

So I gathered all the courage I had left…

And called the police.

He was arrested and ordered to stay away from me.

Finally, I am free.

Don’t wait for your life to flash before your eyes…

My story could have had a bad ending just like millions of others who have no voice.

Speak up…

For it could be your only chance to get out.

For all abused women and their children…

We cannot live this way.

Love is pure. It is kind and patient. It does not judge or condemn.

Don’t wait until it’s too late…

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do

not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous

right hand.

You are not alone.

Take the first step…

Tell someone.

For every victim of domestic violence…..

I’m praying for you.
