MY TPACK DEVELOPMENTMultimedia Reflection on the

concepts of Educational Technology

TPACK TPACK is a very important

concept for teachers in the present world.

TPACK consist of three things:• CONTENT• PEDAGOGY• TECHNOLOGY

Teachers need to be able to incorporate the three concepts together to use in a classroom.

Where did I start? In Module 4, we

were tasked to reflect on our own TPACK development.

I was not too confident in using technology in my classrooms.

My TPACK standing from Module 4Technology and Pedagogy circles are quite small because I

lack confidence in using technology in my classrooms.

Where am I now? There is definitely

an change in my TPACK model. • Throughout this

course I have learned many new technologies, frameworks on technology and using technology in ways I have never imagined before.

My current TPACK modelThough it does not seem like it is a big change, I have learned a lot on technology. It is growing everyday, and it is amazing how technology can bring us to new heights of learning.

What cause this change? Module 2: PLN

• PLNs are a great way to find new ideas by connecting to the world.

• How does this contribute to my TPACK growth? One valuable aspect of PLNs is

the fact that it can introduce new technologies and strategies that I can try in my own classroom. New technology and strategy will allow me to see what works and not work; allowing me to improvise using a different technology or strategies in my classroom.

This is a screenshot of my Module 2 assignment discussing a few benefits of PLNs. Click here to visit Module 2.

What else? Module 6: Interactive

Whiteboards• Though I have seen interactive

whiteboards, it was not until this class that I learned a lot about them.

• I have discovered that I can use interactive whiteboards for much more than I have imagined.

• This is definitely something that contributes to the growth of my TPACK skills.

• I have also found some interesting activities to use that takes advantage of the technology the IWB provides.

Third is the Charm Module 7: Mlearning

• Maybe it was how I was taught in school, I have been always reluctant to use mobile devices in my classes during my practicum.

• Module 7 taught me that there are many great apps and tools that could be used on a mobile device to learn.

• This is something I need to work on, but I am for sure going to use mobile learning in my classes.

What about one more? Module 8: Learning

Management Systems• Though I have used them

when I was in school, (most memorable was SchoolZone) LMSs we have discussed in this class is a step forward.

• The ability to creat announcements, online quizzes and assingments definitely helps bring my TPACK skills one step further.

• I can take advantage of LMSs to improve my classroom and make it flexible.

CourseSites is an example of an LMS. I created an example course website for Module 8.Click here to visit Module 8.

What impact does have on me as a future teacher?

Technology is a part of our life now. It impacted the world and ultimately will impact me. • The future will be even

more technological, and I think it is great for me to be able to use and incorporate technology in my classrooms.

• I am going to teach for the future, and there is no better way than to embrace technology.

Conclusion There are a lot more

that helped in increasing my TPACK skills• Examples: Web 2.0 Tools

(Module 9), One challenge for me

now is knowing how to balance my classroom so technology and face-to-face instruction can be able to retain their values without one dominating the other. Connect our world. Embrace Technology!

I created this picture from MS Paint. Isn’t technology fun?
