Finding a thesis or dissertation on RULDiscovery

Start by putting your keywords into the search bar in RULDiscovery and

clicking the search button

When you have some search results, click on ‘Show More’ at the bottom of the ‘Show results for’ menu to bring up the list

of different media types that RULDiscovery can find.

Near the bottom of the list will be ‘Dissertations/Theses’. Click in the box so a

tick appears, then click ‘Update’.

Your search results should now consist of only dissertations and theses. To find more information on a

specific thesis, click on its title.

This page will give you more information about the dissertation or thesis, including a full description of the topics

covered.

The EThOS page will show you the abstract and other details about the dissertation. If you want to look at the complete dissertation, you will need to set up an EThOS account.

Click on ‘Login/Registration’ to either set up an account or login to your account if you already have one

Once you are logged into EThOS, you should see you username at the top of the screen. To see what your options are for accessing the full text of the dissertation, click ‘Choose Download and Delivery Options’

If the dissertation or thesis is available digitally, you should be able to download a copy for free

Click on ‘Add to Basket’ if you want to download the file

You will then be able to see the contents of your basket. You can add more titles or click ‘Confirm’ to start downloading the file.

You will then see the order conformation page and will need to agree to the copyright statement before you can download your file.

Next, click on ‘Download’ to go to the download manager.

Click the tick box next to the files you want to download.

Finally, click the ‘Download’ button that appears and your web browser should download the file for you, as a zipped file.
