WHAT IS

GEOMETRY?

A branch of Mathematics that deals

with questions of shape, size,

position of figures and properties of

shape.

EUCLID

• A Greek

mathematician

who lived around

300 BC

• Often referred as

father of

Geometry

because of his

Geometry works

TYPES OF

GEOMETRY

A. Plane Geometry

B. Solid Geometry

1st ACTIVITY

PLANE GEOMETRY• A branch of geometry that deals with objects

that are flat, such as triangles, squares and

lines, that can be drawn in a flat piece of

paper.

2nd ACTIVITY

6 squares = Cube

4 triangles = 1 Triangular pyramid

Solid Geometry• A branch of geometry that deals

with objects in a space, having

width, depth and height, such as

cubes, spheres, pyramids etc.

Conclusion:

We use plane geometry to

form a solid geometry
