Gina Bruce’s Sculpture “Old Phoenix”Gina told us that this was the first piece she completed in this series. Eldora Welty’s “ A Worn Path” was the inspiration for this piece.

Gina Bruce’s “Pappa”This piece was inspired by the book, “The Shack”, by William P. Young.

Gina Bruce’s “Colonel Sardis”This sculpture was inspired by William Faulkner’s A Barn Burning. The rustic wooden stand was also inspired by this great literary work.

Gina Bruce’s “A Rose For Emily”This piece was inspired by William Faulkner’s “A Rose for Emily”. Gina decided to make a Candle Holder out of it because she felt Emily needed to have her way lit and the color is for friendship, if only Emily could have had a friend.

Gina Bruce’s “Baskerville Puppy”Gina felt that even the most evil of dogs had to be a cute playful puppy to begin with and so she sculpted this piece with that in mind.

Gina BruceGina was inspired by this poem “Gretel in Darkness” by Louise Gluck. The following sculpture was her interpretation of this literary work.

Gina Bruce’s “Gretel in Contemplation”Gina stated that this was a Fantasy Chair that Gretel sat in contemplating all of the things that had happened to her.

Gina Bruce’s “Gretel in Darkness”Gina said this was a Fantasy chair and one of the reasons is because the witch is still there coming out of the chair to get Gretel.

Gina Bruce’s “Turkish Pears in August”Gina was inspired to create this sculpture from reading the book of the same title by Robert Bly.

Gina Bruce’s “Troy and Raynelle”Gina was inspired by August Wilson’s story, “Fences”. Gina captured the love Troy Maxim had for his illegitimate daughter Raynelle. This was the last sculpture in this series.

• Gina has been doing sculptures since she was a small girl. She sculpted with red clay in those early years but now she works with polyresin and earthenware.

• Gina stated that when she is sculpting, each piece becomes very personal to her.

• As you can see from the finished works that she puts a lot of work into each piece and some of her soul becomes part of the work.
