Grammar is the set of rules which transforms a chaotic list of words into an understandable phrase.

Grammar determines the patterns which underlie all languages.

Grammar governs the relationships between words, enabling us to join words together in order to communicate effectively.

It is not essential to study grammar in order to learn a language

But grammar is useful to increase your powers of reasoning
