January

• We celebrate New Years Eve. • We usually make new years resolutions.• We wish you Happy New Year: in Hungarian: Boldog Új Évet

February

• We celebrate Carneval. We usually wear funny costumes, and have a Carneval Party at schools.• In Mohacs, people wear old costumes to push the winter away.

March

• We have a national holiday on 15th March.• We remeber the revolution of 1848.

April• We usually have Easter in April. Girls pain red easter eggs.• We make small nests in the gardens from grass and flowers, and

Easter bunny puts some red eggs and some chocolates in them.• Usually boys pour girls with water.

May• We celebrate mothers’ day on the first Sunday of May. We make some

small gifts and give some flowers to our mothers.• We celebrate children’s day on the last Sunday of May. We go to the

park and we play some funny games.

June• We finally finish our school and we get our final grade called in

Hungarian: bizonyítvány”• Last- years-students have a special day, when they say good bye to

their old school. We decorate schools with flowers .

July

• We have summer holiday in July. We usually go to he beach, swim in the lake.• We don’t have to learn, we don’t have to do our homework☺

August

• We celebrate the grape harvest in our town. • We eat traditional Hungarian food, we watch and dance folkdances.• A lot of tourists visit our small town that time.

September

• We start school in September.• We have to get up early, go to school and do our homeworks again.

October

• We have a national holiday in October.• We remeber the revolution of 23rd October 1956.

November

• We have All Hallows’ Day on the 1st November.• People visit cemeteries, and put candles on the graves. • We remember our dead friends and relatives that day.

December• Santa Claus visits us on 6th December. Children put their boots into

windows, and Santa Claus comes at night to put some chokolates into boot. Bad children usually get some gold branch called „virgács”, too.• Little Jesus comes on the evening of 24th December. We usually have

beautiful Christmas trees, and we eat traditional food, like fish-soup, „töltöttkáposzta” and cake „beigli”
