INFORMATION OF INDIA
India is a secular country. It is covered with water on three sides. The population of India is 121 crores. India ranks 2nd in population. India is 7th largest country in the world. India ‘s capital is “NEW DELHI”. India’s national language is “HINDI”. It is located in Asia continent.
CULTURE OF INDIA India’s culture is very ancient. There are many types of people of different
caste , speaking different language, following different language etc.
People living in India have different dance ,tradition etc.
Respect others and living in good manners are most important culture of India.

India is located in Asia continent.It is located in southern part of Asia. It is located in torrid zone.

FESTIVALS OF INDIA
DIWALI Diwali is festival of lights. It is celebrated all over India with great pomp & show. In this festival people share greetings,
sweets etc. People make “RANGOLI” in front of their
house.
JANMASTAMI
Janmastami is celebrated in the account of the birth of Lord Krishna. It is celebrated all over the India. On this day “DAHI HANDI” is celebrated. In many places there is competition to
break Dahi Handi.
HOLI
Holi is the festival of color.It is celebrated all over the India.On the day of Holi people do Holika
dhayan.People also play with color.We can see color every where we move.
RAKSHABANDHANRakshabandhan is a festival between all brothers and sisters.It is celebrated allover India.On this day sisters tie “RAKHEE” to their
brothers.Brothers give them gifts.
GREAT PEOPLE OF INDIA
BAL GANGADHAR TILAK
Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born on 23rd July 1856 in Maharashtra. His another name was Lokmanya Tilak. He worked for Indian National Congress. British called Tilak as “Father of Indian
unrest”. Bal Gangadhar Tilak died in 1st August
1920.
MAHATMA GANDHI
Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar. He got the degree of barrister from London. He was known as Gandhiji. He established “Satyagrah Ashram” in
Kochrab of Ahmedabad on May 25 , 1915. He also established “South African Indian
Association” in South Africa.
SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATELSardar Vallabhbhai Patel was Born on October 31st 1875 in Nadiad.He was also a barrister.He did the hericulian work of joining 562
princely state of India.He became the Deputy Prime Minister &
Home minister of India.He is known as “Iron man of India”.
JAWAHARLAL NEHRU
Jawaharlal Nehru was born On 14th November 1889 at Allahabad. His birthday is celebrated as Childrens day. He was the first Prime Minister of India. He was also an advocate. He always kept rose in his pocket. He gave Panchasheel principal to the world .
GREAT SPORTSMAN OF INDIAABHINAV BINDRA
Abhinav Bindra was born on 28th September 1982 in Dehradun. He got the certificate of BBA. He is in the field of shooting. He got gold for India in 2008 Beijing Olympics
in 10m Air Rifle shooting. He was honored with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna
Award in 2001.
SACHIN TENDULKAR Sachin Tendulkar was born on 24th April 1973. His full name was Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. His nicknames are God of Cricket, Master Blaster ,Tendlya etc. He did his ODI debut against Pakistan in 18
December 1989. He was awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award &
Padma Vibhushan. He became the first sportsperson to awarded group
captain by Indian Air Force.
VISHWANATHAN ANAND
Vishwanathan Anand was born on 11th December 1969 in Tamil Nadu . He is in the field of chess. He is titled Grandmaster in 1987. His current ranking is No. 1. He was awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna
Award & Padma Vibhushan.
VIJENDRA SINGH Vijendra Singh was born on 29th
October 1985 in Haryana. He did his Bachelors degree from Vaish college. He is a middleweight Boxer. He has got bronze in 2008 Beijing Olympics in Boxing. He got Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. He got gold medal in 2010 Asian Games in
Guangzhou.
GREAT SPORTSWOMAN OF INDIA ASHWINI AKKUNJI
Ashwini was born on 7TH October 1987 in Udupi. She is an Athlete. She got gold in 4*400m relay in 2010
Commonwealth Games & Asian Games. She got gold in 400m Hurdles in 2010 Asian
Games in Guangzhou.
P.T. USHA
P.T Usha was born on 27th June 1964 in Kerala. She is an athlete. She was the employ of Indian Railways. She is called “queen of Indian track and
field.” She nicknamed “Payyoli Express.” She is only Indian woman to reach Olympic
final by winning 400m hurdles Semi Final.
JWALA GUTTA
Jwala Gutta was born on 7th September 1983 in Maharashtra. She is a badminton player. She is player of Mixed Doubles. She won gold medal in Woman’s Doubles in
2010 Commonwealth Games. She won Bulgaria Grand Pix in 2008.
SANIA MIRZA
Sania Mirza was born on 15th November 1986 in Mumbai. Her current ranking is 65. She got silver medal in Mixed Doubles in
2010 Asian Games Guangzhou. She got gold medal in Mixed Doubles in 2006
Asian Games Doha. She has married to Pakistani cricketer Soaib
Malik.

Garba is a dance of Gujarat. It is performed in the nine day Hindu festival
named “Navaratri”. The word Garba came from word “Garba
Deep”. The statue of Goddess Durga is placed
between the concentric rings as an object of veneration.

BHARATNATYAM
Bharatnatyam is a classical form of dance. It is a south India dance. The dance accompanied by classical
Carnatic music. The word Bharatnatyam came from the
words Bhava (expression), raga (music), Tala (rhythm), Natya (Classic Indian Music Theatre).
ODISSI
Odissi is one of the 8 classical dance. It is originates from state Orissa. Odissi is first originated from court dance. Odissi is the oldest classical dance. In Orissa this dance is used as a form of
worship.

MAHESWATA DEVIMahasweta Devi was born in 1926
in Dhaka.Her first schooling was in Dhaka, but after the
partition of India she moved to West Bengal in India.
She completed B.A. in English, and then finished M.A. in English at Calcutta University.
She founded Vishvabharati University in Santiniketan.

Megha Patkar was born on 1st

SCIENTISTS OF INDIA
C.V. RAMAN Dr C.V Raman was 7 November 1888 . His full name was Chandrasekhara Venkata
Raman. He was the recipient of the Nobel Prize for
Physics in 1930 . In 1904, he gained his B.Sc., winning the first
place and the gold medal in physics. He got the Nobel Prize in1930 in Physics.
JAGDISH CHANDRA BOSE Jagadish Chandra Bose was born on 30 November 1858 . He was a Bengali polymath: a physicist,
biologist, botanist, archaeologist, as well as an early writer of science fiction.
Bose went to England to study Medicine at the University of London.
He received the Natural Science Tripos from the University of Cambridge and a BSc from the University of London in 1884.
A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931.His full name is Abul Phaqir Jain-ul-Abideen
Abdul Kalam .He joined the Defense Research and Development
Organization (DRDO) in 1958 and served as a senior scientific assistant.
The missiles went up more or less on schedule: Trishul missile in 1985, Prithvi in 1988, Agni in 1989 and the others in 1990.
VIKRAM SARABHAI
Vikram Sarabhai was born on 12 August 1919 .
His full name was Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai. He is considered to be the father of the Indian
space program. He was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy
degree in 1947, for his thesis titled Cosmic Ray Investigation in Tropical Latitudes.
He died in 31 December 1971
MONUMENTS OF INDIA HAWA MAHA
Hawa Mahal is located in Jaipur city of Rajasthan.
There are 982 windows in Hawa Mahal. Many people of different countries come here
to see this beautiful Mahal. We can see Jantar Mantar from Hawa Mahal
& Hawa Mahal from Jantar Mantar.
AMBER FORT
Amber Fort is located in Jaipur. Amber fort was constructed by Mirza Raja
Jai Singh in the time period of 1621 to 1627.
There is a special place inside the fort called Diwan –i-Khas which is also called Char Bagh.
There are interesting places like Sheesh Mahal & Sukh Nivas.
BULAND DARWAZA
Buland Darwaza is located in fatehpur sikri in Agra.
It was constructed by Mughal Emperor Akbar.
It is the highest darwaza in Asia. It is the Dargah of Salim Chiste. It is also called “Gate of Magnificence” It’s height is 54m from the ground level.
RED FORT OF AGRA
Red fort is located in Delhi & Agra. Many Mughal emperor like
Babur ,Humayun,Akbar,Jahangir,Shah Jahan & Aurangzeb lived here.
It is on the bank of river Yamuna. It was built by Chauhan Rajput in 1080 AD. Agra Fort is a UNESCO world heritage site.
RASTRAPATI BHAVAN
Rastrapati Bhavan is situated in Raisina hills New Delhi.
It is also called “President House”. The President of our country live here. It was first known as “Viceroy’s House” till
1950. It was made by King George. It is the largest residential place in the world.
TAJ MAHAL
Taj Mahal is located in Agra On the bank of river Yamuna. It was made by Shah Jahan in memory of his
belaved queen Mumtaz Mahal. It took near about 14 years to be built. It is made of white marble.
