Post Information to the Web• You can use Google Maps to add your photos

and info to a map of your own– Easily shared– Allows for exploration, less passive

• You will need to have a Google or Gmail account to edit the map and post your informationhttps://www.google.com/accounts/Login

Steps to Post Information

• Sign in to your Google account• Go to Google Maps and “Create new map”• Type in a title and decription• Grab placemark and drop at the outcrops or

photo locations• Type in a title and description in the dialogue

box• Add photos

Create new mapSearched for “Rocky Arbor State Park”

Select Satellite view and locate photos

Grab placemarker and drop it at outcrop

Type in a title and description in the dialogue box.

Add Photos to Google Maps• Open a new browser tab or window • In the new tab, go to Picasa or your favorite online photo site http://picasaweb.google.com/home• Select upload photos and either select or create a new album.• Choose file and find the photo you want to upload and click on the

Choose button• Select Link to this Photo. It’s on the right hand side.• Copy the text in the embed image box.• Go back to Google Maps, Outcrops in Wisconsin.• By the description, select “edit in html”• Paste the embed image text into the box.• Click Okay• Click Save and Done

In the new tab, go to Picasa or your favorite online photo site

Select upload photos and either select or create a new album.

Select Choose file

Find the photo you want to upload and click on the Choose button

In the album, select the photo for the outcrop and click on Link to the Photo

Copy the text in the Embed image box

Go back to Google Maps and select Edit HTML

Paste the Embed image text into the dialogue box and the click OK

Click Done and Save

You’ve just done some geology everyone can see and use
