–Fish, amphibians, reptiles, aquatic insects and certain mammals need wetlands as a place for their young to be born.

Sundew• 4 species grow in bogs

and along lakes• Uses its leaves to lure

and trap prey• Thin spines grow on

tips of leaves; each spine holds a drop of glue

• Insects are drawn to the glue which looks like dew or nectar

Carnivorous Plants

Pitcher-Plant• Grows in bogs and

swamps• Long, smooth stalk

with a huge flower• Leaf holds water• Around the hood &

mouth, nectar glands attract insects

• Slippery surface forces the insect to slip into the water

Wetland Plant Life

Labrador Tea• Evergreen found

in bogs & swamps• Endures cold

winters, hot summers, flooding & drought

• Green leaves used to brew tea
