Hundreds of thousands of people in Pakistan have been devastated by the worst floods in the country's history. The death toll has already reached over 1,500, and more than 4 million people are affected. CEDAR is responding through our partner by distributing emergency supplies including food packages, health & hygiene kits, plastic sheets and cooking utensils to affected families.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Pakistan have been devastated by the worst floods in the country's history.
The death toll has already reached over 1,500, and more than 4 million people are affected.
In northwestern Pakistan, where most of the 1.7 million Afghan refugees registered in Pakistan are living, has been worst affected.

At least two camps, which accommodated over 5,000 refugee families, have been washed away by floods.

The refugees told the reporters that…
‘We have no shelter, no food and don’t know how long this catastrophe will continue.’
‘My wife and two children are missing.’
With thousands of people still stranded in water, there is mounting concern about water-borne diseases outbreaks.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), diarrhea, eye diseases and skin diseases have been reported in affected areas, and there is a possibility of outbreaks of measles and other contagious diseases.

Other victims said…
‘There is no clean water here. People are drinking from pools of standing water that have mingled with sewage.’
‘We have basically been stranded on rooftops for three days. There are small children and the elderly with me, making up my family of eight… We have nothing to drink, no access to toilets and no help for my wife who is sick with high fever.’
