Our opening will be in the crime thriller genre, and we will show this with quick cut shots and typically ‘criminal’ actions, settings and props.

A young, rookie hitman joins a new, privatised agency and works his way up the ranks, building up to his biggest heist yet.

Boss- The leader of the agency. A woman, to challenge stereotypes of men being in roles of power and the business of violence and killing. Smooth and powerful, asserts authority in a controlled manner.

Hitman- The main character, and the first character we see. Begins as a rookie and builds up, and the opening follows him as he plans his biggest heist.

Costume- Classy, women dressed well and men dressed in suits and ties etc.

Lighting- City shots: daylight, outside. Natural light. Planning shots: Lamplight, fairly dark room with a desk lamp. Some soft lights will be needed to make the shots show up on camera.

Actors- Minimal. Boss, bodyguard and main character.

Makeup- Boss woman- sophisticated, but outlandish.

Props- Typical office supplies, briefcase, lamp, papers, chair, cigarette, table

Setting- Office and city

Main title- Skyline, shot swoops up from the ground

Titles shown on sheets and blueprints-

Writers, directors, producers, production companies, actors, sounds, music, editing, makeup, costume director, casting

Production logo- written in dust, blown away. No sound, city sounds begin opening over the top

The scene begins with the main character outside having a cigarette, cuts to main title and office scene split with blueprints and plans.

By us seeing the main characters eyes straight away we immediately know that he is the main character. By the opening shots particularly focusing in on him, we get the sense that tension is building built up. By the scene following the main characters actions, we are intrigued to find out more as we are yet to discover his role in the opening and whether he's a protagonist or antagonist.

As a group we have decided not to include dialogue in our film opening as we don’t want it to take the focus of our transition shots and Mise-En-Scene. As a result of us not including dialogue we feel that our opening will be potentially more successful as it is quite hard to link the dialogue with any foleysounds and background music.
