A brief history of commissioning
• 1991: purchaser-provider split, GP fundholding, GP & locality commissioning
• 1995: total commissioning• 1997: Labour elected, committed to end
fundholding• 1999: fundholding abolished, PCGs (later PCTs)
established• 2010: coalition elected• 2011: CCGs• 2012: Health and Social Care Act passed
