TASK DESIGN PROJECT

OBJECTIVES

To promote student´s interaction through the development of authentic communicative tasks

To integrate different communicative skills to help students improve their English Level

RationaleIt is important to develop the four

communicative skills in any specific

course. It is necessary to work on

different activities which help learners

achieve the course objectives. Even

though, there are not many

opporutnities in class to work on

speaking and listening activities due to

time constraints. This task design

project is intented as an opportunity to

encourage student´s to listen songs and

practice speaking in real situations.

Students´ Profile

There are 16 students in this group. They are between 21 to 25 years old. They study system Engineer and they show motivation in the classes. It is a heterogeneous group and their motivation varies from one student to another.

CONTEXT

Institution: Corhuila UniversityLanguage level: IV level ( students from Ingenieria de sistemas, IX semesterSkills: Listening, reading , speaking and writing.Hours per week: 3Number of the students: 16

WEAKNESS

As students come from different backgrounds all of them have their own weaknesses and strenghts. But I have percieved during the development of the course a strong weakness in speaking and listening mainly

INDIVIDUAL: Students will listen individually the newspaper article and the song

PAIR WORK: Students talk to a partner about themselves

GROUP WORK: Students play the game into two groups

Students listen a short newspaper article related to a burglary.Then, they have the scripts to help them understand the newsStudents underline the verbs in past.Later, the students will remember the present tense of the verbs and they will discover what the unit is about.

ACTIVITYCorrecting the mistakes

Example: They will listen: Russell woke up at 2 o´clock.

Correction He did not wake up at 2:00! He woke up at 3:00

Students will listen some sentences related to the article they listened and they will correct the mistakes. Here, teacher introduces how to make negatives sentences.

As a reinforcement student will listen a song and practice the past of the verbs

The class will be divided into two groups. Teacher will say a verb in present, students will do the action of the verb and the group will guess what the verb is by telling a sentence

COMMENT

The previous tasks were designed and some were adapted bearing in mind the content of the textbook “ American Headway 2 “ unit 3 titled. It all went wrong, which is the textbook selected to teach that level.
