INPUT DEVICES

INTRODUCTION:Computer cannot understand our language because it understands only machine language and it can be possible using some devices called input devices.

When we work with a computer, we enter data and give instructions to the computer by using these devices.

These devices convert data and instructions into the form that can be easily recognized by the computer.

TYPES OF INPUT DEVICES:MOUSE KEY -

BOARD SCANNER

JOYSTICK MICRO- PHONE

LIGHT- PEN

TRACK-BALL DIGITIZER TOUCH-

SCREEN

It is the pointing device usedto insert instructions to the Computers. It is hand held device that controls the pointer on the screen. It hastwo buttons i.e. left and right button and one scrolling wheel. With the helpOf mouse you can draw images, Select options and move and textImages.

MOUSE:

TYPES OF MOUSE:LASER MOUSE

OPTICAL MOUSE

KEY-BOARD: A keyboard is the set of typewriter

like keys that enables you to enter data into a computer and other devices.

Computer keyboards are similar to electric-typewriter keyboards but contain additional keys.

Keyboard is merely a collectionof momentary switches.

Types of key-board:NORMAL

KEYBOARDMULTIMEDIAKEYBOARD

WIRELESS KEYBOARD

A scanner is a device that captures imagesfrom photographic prints, posters, magazinepages, and similar sources forcomputer editing and display.Scanners come in hand-held, feed-in, and flatbed types and for scanning black-and-whiteonly, or colour.

SCANNER:

TYPES OF SCANNER:FLATBEDSCANNER

PHOTOSCANNER

SHEETFED SCANNERS

JOY-STICKA joystick is an input device consisting of a

stick that pivots on a base and reports its angle or direction to the device it is controlling.

Joysticks are often used to control video games, and usually have one or more push-buttons whose state can also be read by the computer.

Joysticks are also used forcontrolling machines such ascranes, trucks, underwater unmanned vehicles,.

MICRO-PHONE: A micro-phone is an input device used

to inputting voice signal into the computer.

Micro-phones are commonly used for live chats.

Micro-phones are also used to record voice in the computer.

TYPES OF MICRO-PHONES:

HEADSETS STAND-ALONE

WECAM INTEGRATED

A light pen is a computer input device in the form of a light-sensitive wand used in conjunction with a computer's CRT display. It allows the user to point to displayed objects or draw on the screen in a similar way to a touch-screen but with greater positional accuracy.

LIGHT-PEN:

TRACK-BALL:o Track ball is an input device that is

mostly used in notebook or laptop computer, instead of mouse.

o It looks like an upside-down mouse.o The onscreen pointer is moved by

the trackball with a thumb or fingero Since the whole device is not moved, a track ball requires less space than a mouse.

Digitizer is an input device which converts analog information into digital form. Digitizer can convert a signal from the television or camera into a series of numbers that could be stored in a computer. They can be used by the computer to create a picture of whatever the camera had been pointed at. Digitizer is also known as Tablet or Graphics Tablet.

DIGITIZER:

TOUCH-SCREEN: Touch-screen is the easiest way to input data on

thecomputer. Touch-screen allow the user to select theitems by touching the screen at appropriate spot.

Thescreens are sensitive to pressure; a user interacts

withthe computer by touching pictures or words on the screen.

OUTPUT DEVICES

Computer is fed with a lot of data to be processed and organised.

The data has been processed into useful form is called output.

Output is a result we get through output devices.

INTRODUCTION:

TYPES OF OUTPUT DEVICES:

PRINTER MONITOR SPEAKERS

PROJECTOR

PLOTTER

FLAT -PANEL

PRINTER:A printer is any device that

prints text or illustrations on paper.

A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media.

TYPES OF PRINTER:

IMPACTPRINTE

R

NON-IMPACTPRINTER

TYPES OF IMPACT PRINTERS:

DOT-MATRIX

DAISY-WHEEL

TYPES OF NON-IMPACT PRINTERS:

LASER PRINTER

INKJET PRINTER

A monitor or a display is an electronic visualdisplay for computers. The monitor comprises the display

device, circuitry andan enclosure. The display device in modern monitors is typically a thin film transistor liquid crystal display  thin panel, while older monitors used a cathode ray tube about as deep as the screen size.

MONITOR:

SPEAKERS: Speaker is an important part of a computersystem. Some systems have a built-in speaker, though they are small in size. Speaker is anessential part of a computer because they cannotify about various system notificationsthrough various sounds.

PROJECTOR: A projector or image projector isan optical device that projects an image onto asurface, commonly a projection screen. Most projectors create an image by shining alight through a small transparent lens, but some newer types of projectors can project the image directly, by using lasers.

PLOTTER: Plotter is a well known output device

which produce high quality graphics in multiple colour. Plotter is used to create maps, charts etc. on a paper sheet.

A plotter gives a hard copy of the output.

FLAT-PANEL: The flat-panel display refers to a class of video

devices that have reduced volume, weight and power requirement in comparison to the CRT.

You can hang them on walls or wear them on your wrists. Current uses of flat-panel displays include calculators, video games, monitors, laptop computer, graphics display.

INPUT DEVICES OUTPUT DEVICESAn input device is any

hardware device that sends data to a computer, allowing you to interact with and control the computer.

An input device can send data to another device but it cannot receive data from another device.

Examples of input devices are mouse, keyboard, scanner etc

An output device is any peripheral that receives data from a computer, usually for display, projection.

An output device can receive data from another device, but it cannot send data to another device.

Examples of output devices are printer, monitor, projector etc.
