Turnitin Sloodle Integration

Part 1 – Setting up an assignment shell

Workflow – setting up

• Workflow - 1. In your course, turn editing on 2. Select the week/topic block where you want the assignment, click ADD AN ACTIVITY OR RESOURCE and select Turnitin Assignment 3. GENERAL BOX - Name the assignment and provide a summary, leave Submission type as ANY SUBMISSION TYPE 4. ADVANCED OPTIONS – Choose whether you will allow Late Submissions, Exclude Bibliography, Quoted Materials and Small Matches; choose whether you want to use the spelling and grammar checking function. 5. COMMON MODULE SETTINGS - If this is a cohort level course and you have separated the students into groups, make sure you choose separate groups. 6. RESTRICT ACCESS – Define when the students have access to the assignment. 7. SAVE AND DISPLAY – you will now see the administration interface. 8. If you click SETTINGS>SWITCH ROLE TO STUDENT, you will see what the students see. They submit, by clicking MY SUBMISSIONS and selecting the submission type.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING UP GROUPS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SLOODLE HELPER – FROM THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE, NAVIGATE BACK TO >HOMEPAGE>CREATING GROUPS AND GROUPINGS FOR COURSES WITH MULTIPLE TEACHERS

6. RESTRICT ACCESS – If you want, you can define when and how the students have access to the assignment (click enable for the date range).

7. SAVE AND DISPLAY – you will now see the turnitin assignment interface.

8. If you click SETTINGS>SWITCH ROLE TO STUDENT, you will see what the students see. They submit by clicking MY SUBMISSIONS and selecting the submission type.

9. All of the basic settings for the assignment module can be changed by clicking UPDATE THIS TURNITIN ASSIGNMENT in the top right hand corner

10. Key basic options can be changed by clicking on the options tab

11. The tutors listed for this assignment can be selected by clicking on the Turnitin tutors icon and then adding and removing as necessary

This will initially default to the teacher who sets up the module – others can be added as necessary.

12. Start date, due date and post date can be accessed from the pen and paper icon under the summary tab

You can export all submissions with these icons
