• Seminar focus TODAY & LAST WEEK → VALUES
•Values are part of the CULTURE of Kingdom
•Culture is part of the CONCEPT of the Kingdom
•HIS KINGDOM → HIS CULTURE → HIS VALUES
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 11
WHY ARE VALUES IMPORTANT?
• Argument with German Prof.
• Values are the foundations/roots of policies, standards, laws, regulations etc.
• Our lives are likened to trees
(Isa 11:1, Jer 17:7-8) VALUES
Policies, Standard, Laws, Regulations
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 12
WHAT IS THE VALUE OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD TO YOU?
Mat 13:44-46 AMP
(44) The kingdom of heaven is like something precious buried in a field, which a man found and hid again; then in his joy he goes and sells ALL he hasand buys that field.
(45) Again the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a dealer in search of fine and precious pearls,
(46) Who, on finding a single pearl of great price, went and sold ALL he had and bought it.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 13
VALUING EARTHLY POSSESSIONS MORE THAN HEAVENLY POSSESSIONS
Mat 19:20-22 AMP
(20) The young man said, I have observed ALL these from my youth; what still do I lack?
(21) Jesus answered him, If you would be perfect [that is, have that spiritual maturity which accompanies self-sacrificing character], go and sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven; and come, be My disciple [side with My party and follow Me].
(22) But when the young man heard this, he went away sad (grieved and in much distress), for he had great possessions.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 14
• Will you give up that live-in boyfriend/girlfriend for the Kingdom?
• Will you give up the bribes for the Kingdom?
• What is it that we place above the Kingdom?
• That thing is an idol that will keep us ordinary and mediocre
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 15
• The Kingdom costs ALL we have—nothing less
• It has a culture and as part of the culture it has certain VALUES we must ascribe to
• Practicing these values keep us from failure and assures fruitfulness
• Fruitfulness is the beginning of the journey to dominion
• Gen 1:28 God blessed them and said to them:
1. Be fruitful
2. Multiply
3. fill the earth
4. subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]
5. have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 17
2Pe 1:8-10
(8) For if these things [VALUES] be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither bebarren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(9) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
(10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 18
• Your success is not GOD’s responsibility
• He has done all He can (2 Peter 1:3)
• Now we must live a certain way so that these things can MAKE US
2Pe 1:8-10 For if these things [VALUES] be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither bebarren nor unfruitful in the exact knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
• Jesus is the TRUTH (John 14:6). Know the TRUTH and the TRUTH will MAKE YOU free (John 8:32)
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 19
THESE THINGS CONSEQUENCE
if these things be in
you, and abound
they make you that ye
shall neither be barren
nor unfruitful
If you lack these things You are blind (short-
sighted), cannot see
afar, hath forgotten
you were purged from
old sins
if ye do these things You will never fall/fail10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 20
3 LEVELS → 3 PROMISES
•BE IN YOU → You will not be barren, unfruitful, unemployed
• LACK these things
• IF YE DO (PRACTICE) → You will not FALL/FAIL
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 21
WHAT ARE THE “THESE THINGS”?
• They are specific qualities or VALUESenumerated before this verse!
•What are these values?
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 22
2Pe 1:5-9 KJV
(5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
(6) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patiencegodliness;
(7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 23
THESE THINGS ARE:
1. FAITH
2. VIRTUE
3. KNOWLEDGE
4. TEMPERANCE
5. PATIENCE
6. GODLINESS
7. BROTHERLY KINGDNESS
8. LOVE
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 24
Operative word is ADD. ADD (2) to (1) and so on
2Pe 1:8-10 KJV
(8) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(9) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
(10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 25
V.10 Brethren, give diligence to make your CALLING and ELECTION sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall, stumble, fail
•You can be CALLED & ELECTED (not because of your works but by Grace)and yet stumble e.g. Bill Clinton
• Election alone is not sufficient
•You must secure your election—safeguard it
•But how?
•ANSWER = do these things10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 26
• Rom 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
• Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
• Rom 11:7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 27
• Peter asserts that success and fruitfulness lies in the power of the believer i.e. if s/he will adhere to KINGDOM VALUES enumerated
• Your success in life and the safety of your election is not up to GOD but up to us—the values we subscribe to and whether we practice them
• If we practice daily Kingdom values in all we do, we shall neither be barren or unfruitful. In other words we shall be fruitful in life
• What does barren and unfruitful mean?
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 28
2Pe 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 29
DEFINING BARREN
Argos : From G1 (as a negative particle) and G2041; inactive, that is, unemployed; (by implication) lazy, useless: - barren, idle, slow.
2Pe 1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren (inactive, unemployed, lazy, useless, barren, idle, slow) nor unfruitful
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 30
Unemployment includes but is not limited to not having a job. For a better understanding of argos let us take a look at a parable of Jesus.
Mat 20:3-4
(3) And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle (argos) in the marketplace
(4) And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
THE OPPOSITE OF ARGOS IS TO BE EMPLOYED. CRTAIN VALUES WILL MAKE YOU TO BE EMPLOYED
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 31
• The word translated ‘idle’ here is argos.
• Idle here meant they were not doing anything meaningful with their lives.
•GODLY VALUES (THESE THINGS) will enable us to put our lives to meaningful employment
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 32
DEFINING UNFRUITFUL
akarpos
From G1 (as a negative particle) and G2590; barren (literally or figuratively): - without fruit, unfruitful.
2Pe 1:8-10 KJV
(8) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be UNEMPLOYED nor unfruitful (without fruit that makes the Father happy)
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 33
• The word translated ‘idle’ here is argos.
• Idle here meant they were not doing anything FRUIT-FULL with their lives.
•GODLY VALUES (THESE THINGS) will enable us to put our lives to FRUIT-FULL use—we’ll bear much fruit that remains
• Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 34
• Our ordination is to bear much fruit that remains—same as Gen 1:28
• Apostle Peter tells us that if we do/practice THESE THINGS, they will make us EMPLOYED, FRUITFUL, PRODUCTIVE and SUCCESSFUL in all things but especially in the exact knowledge of the Son of GOD—the Lord Jesus Christ
• THESE THINHS will also make our election SURE
• THESE THINGS will make sure we NEVER FAIL/FALL
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 35
• (10) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall NEVER FALL
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 36
DEFINITION OF FALL IN 1PET 1:10
πται ω
ptaio
A form of G4098; to trip, that is, (figuratively) to err, sin, fail (of salvation): - fall, offend, stumble.
If you do THESE THINGS, you will never TRIP, ERR, SIN, FAIL, OFFEND
Balaam will never curse you (There will be no divination against you (Numbers 23:23)) if you do THESE THINGS
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 37
2Pe 1:5-9 KJV
(5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your FAITH virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
(6) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
(7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 39
FAITH
pistis
From G3982; persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy in such profession; by extension the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself: - assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 40
FAITH
• Faith is constancy in such profession
• Heb 3:1 KJV Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
• Your profession is super important
• Your faith is connected to what you say or profess
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 41
FAITHRom 10:6-9 KJV
(6) But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
(7) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
(8) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
(9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 42
• The same way we professed belief in Him and we got saved (soteria) via our High Priest
• When we profess a good marriage, deliverance from evil, the profession (our Word of Faith) is superintended over by the High Priest who brings it to pass. He is the Word that created ALL things
• The moment a believer is born again, he is dealt freely by GOD the measure of faith (Rom 12:3).
• You must however cultivate this faith and add other VALUES to it.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 43
VIRTUE
2Pe 1:5-9 …add to your faith virtue
• From arete
• From the same as G730; properly manliness(valor), that is, excellence (intrinsic or attributed): - praise, virtue.
• To be manly is to be virtuous, excellent, praise worthy i.e. a man of valor
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 44
VIRTUE
From arete
Thayer Definition:
1) a virtuous course of thought, feeling and action
1a) virtue, moral goodness
2) any particular moral excellence, as modesty, purity
2Pe 1 …add to your FAITH, virtue (moral excellence; purity)
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 45
VIRTUE
•Moral excellence cannot be accomplished apart from the Holy Ghost
• It is H.E. who help us bear the fruit of moral excellence
•When we feel angry, instead of lashing out at the instigator, we can rather choose the path of moral excellence and choose to forgive with the enablement of the Holy Ghost within us.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 46
KNOWLEDGE
2Pe 1:5-9 …add …to virtue knowledge
• DEFINITION: gnosis
• intellectual knowledge i.e. knowledge that has to do with human intellect—Includes all sciences. We are to add to our moral excellence intellectual knowledge.
• Christians should have intellectual knowledge about their jobs, world, families, Christianity etc.
• If you want to be a husband and a father, study what it takes to be a good husband and father. Apply yourself to intellectual development.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 47
TEMPERANCE 2Pe 1:6 And to knowledge temperance c.f. Gal 5:23
• Egkrateia: defined as self restraint, self-mastery, self-control, continence etc.
• NT Greek Lexicon: one who masters his desires and passions, esp. his sensual appetites
• Some are easily mastered by senses (what we see, hear, taste, feel etc), emotions or physical appetites
• We should rather be mastered by Holy Ghost Gal 5:23
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 48
TEMPERANCE
• Egkrateia is the ability to hold yourself back even though your flesh wants to do something that does not pertain to moral excellence such as getting involved in a fight, or getting involved in a sexual misconduct or even running a red light at the traffic light.
• By ourselves we cannot do this but by the Spirit of GOD that indwells us, we can do ALL THINGS through Christ who gives us the ability or strength.
• Luke 21:19 “In your patience possess ye your souls”. This means we have the ability to do so.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 49
PATIENCE
2Pe 1:6 …and to temperance patience
• It is impossible to egkrateia or exercise self mastery without patience Luk 21:19
• PATIENCE is hupomonē—defined as:
i. cheerful and hopeful steadfastness
ii. constancy
iii. endurance
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 50
PATIENCE
iv. Refers to staying power or the ability to go the long haul and not check out at any sign of distress or discomfort
v. It is a cheerful or JOYFUL hope and expectation.
vi. The expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off
vii. Hupomonē is JOYFUL staying power.
In absence of joy, its not patience. The joy is what gives strength to hold on (Nehemiah 8:10)
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 51
Jesus’ example of cheerful or JOYFUL hope and expectation
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 52
GODLINESS
2Pe 1:6 …and to patience godliness
• Eusebeia: Outward Actions Of Piety. Example: How we carry ourselves externally, dressing, speaking etc.
• If we have a stinky character, there is no way we can hide it. It will definitely affect our external actions so even though eusebeia does not refer to inward nature, the inward life of a believer affects the way she or he acts externally. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 53
BROTHERLY KINDNESS
2Pe 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness
• Philadelphia: brotherly love or friendly love or fraternal affection.
• The way we relate with people goes a long way to build trust and friendship which are necessary to network. By ourselves we can do some good work but when we multiply our forces through networking, we can do more.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 54
AGAPE
2Pe 1:7 …and to brotherly kindness Love
• Agapē: Agapē is GOD and GOD is agapē. GOD does not possess love. He is Love (1 John 4:8).
• Agapē unlike Philadelphia is unconditional. We may start out loving people conditionally but we are to grow to love them unconditionally—from philadelphia to AGAPE
• This type of love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22) and thus it can ONLY be experienced by those who have been initiated i.e. born again by Love or GOD.
10-May-16LRF 3RD DAY OF WEEK TRAINING SEMINAR 55
ADD
Faith + Moral Excellence + Intellectual Knowledge + Self-mastery + Hopeful and Cheerful Endurance + Piety + Friendly Love +Agapē
=
FAIL-PROOF & FALL-PROOF in all our Endeavors; Success Assured

(9) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
