Acknowledgements
First of all , We would like to thank Dr. Farid who has been our
supervisor during our project and provided us with much appreciated help
and advice .He also help us in building the circuit.
Secondly , We would like to thank our families for their financial support
of this project.
Thirdly , many thanks for Mr. Sultan for has idea for lights.
Finally, We would like to give very special thank to our parents for their
social support and great encouragement during our project .
Introduction
On a daily basis, it is estimated that 30% of vehicles on the road in the
downtown area of major cities are cruising for a parking spot and it takes
an average of 7.8 minutes to find one [1]. This causes not only a waste of
time and fuel for drivers looking for parking, but it also contributes to
additional waste of time and fuel for other drivers as a result of traffic
congestion.
Over the past two decades, traffic authorities in many cities are building
so-called Parking Guidance and Information (PGI) systems for better
parking management. PGI systems present drivers with dynamic
information on parking within controlled areas and direct them to vacant
parking spots.
Due to improvements in design technology today’s ,Our group takes a
chance to find solution to reduce wasting time for drivers looking for
parking . In this project we will build a complete system that tells drivers
where to parking their cars.
2- Main Body The Problem
Figure (1) Car Parking
As we see in figure (1) the parking from the top there are places but is
difficult to know that places are empty also the drivers waste time
looking for parking.
The Solution
Figure (2) Car Parking has units
First of all, We will put a display in entering parking to show drivers
which unit to go .The display also count the entering cars in the unit when
unit is full tells drivers not to go that unit.
After that we put the lights in front of each park to tell drivers where to
park. The lights are red and green which red light indicates to busy places
and the green light indicates to empty places.
How does the circuit work ?
Figure (3) Circuit diagram
The main components of the circuit microcontroller , switches , lights ,
display and source . The circuit works in 5volt .
When the cars take place in the parking, the microcontroller works by
sending signals to the display to count entering cars . Also the
microcontroller sends signals to the lights to change from red to green and
so on.
In our project we made a small model that consist of two units . Each unit
has 8 parks when the parking has 8 cars the display will show the number
of unit with statement "Unit No. full no entering ".Also we the parking is
free the display will show the number of unit with statement "unit No.
empty go unit No. ".

Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages
• Find park in short time.
• Provide fuel .
• Low cost .
Disadvantages
• Hard to repair the underground sensors.
• Can't use this in public
Benefits
Imagine the time that smart parking system would save you. Every time
you enter your university or origination you have to find a parking space
and walking in and out of the lot as well . Imagine how much time it is
costing you. With this system will reduce wasting time , fuel and provide
lots of benefits .
Conclusion
In this model we use underground sensors which will be costly in the
practical , so we recommend using the dimension sensor in the life .
Finally , we hope this project eliminates all the hassle of wasting time and
fuel .
